Dr Robert Hallowes (Bob) Brown was formally a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at University of Western Australia; later Chief of the CSIRO Division of Manufacturing Technology, followed by activity as director of collaborative manufacturing research groups in Australia and internationally. He is co-author of two technical books - The Machining of Metals (1969) and Research, Development and Innovation (1997). He published a philosophical/psychological book, Why Do People Do What They Do?, in 2018. He now lives in Seymour, Victoria, Australia nearby his wife of 62 years, where they enjoy a loving rapport with independence. They have three excellent children, eight fantastic grandchildren and two wonderful great-grandchildren.
