Questioning Christmas - Rich McCaskill
T his Christmas season, reflect on the holiday’s true meaning by questioning it. Rich McCaskill gives us twelve questions for the twelve days of Christmas that will help the reader consider the claims of Christ. Skeptic or believer, this book will provoke your thinking and perhaps even awaken your faith.
Tremper Longman III, PhD, Yale University; Distinguished Scholar and Professor Emeritus of Biblical Studies, Westmont College
"R ich McCaskill pinpoints what makes the message of Christ so unique and compelling in a reason-based world that oftentimes deifies scientific progress. The book carefully navigates historical, logical, biblical, and scientific evidence for contemplating why we exist on this Earth, and why the role of God in the universe can’t be ruled out. Questioning Christmas hit home for me — someone whose faith in Jesus is continually evolving and occasionally requires a few drops of reason to remind me."

T he author has come up with an accessible handbook for those who are perplexed and skeptical about Christianity. He presents his readers with a wide array of evidence to show why Christianity matters and why one should not ignore it. The book is pastoral in its approach and insightful in its content. After reading this short book, it will be difficult not to take the person of Jesus and the Christian faith seriously. If you want to know why Christianity has impacted so many people around the world over the last 2,000 years, grab this book and give it a read; it may save your life after all.

F or those Scrooges who question, doubt, or ridicule Christianity and its claims, Rich unwraps twelve answers to those questions. His conversations based on science, history, philosophy, and archaeology respond carefully and confidently to modern-day skeptics. Each chapter closes with a question to ponder that will make even believers more aware of the tenets of their faith.

W ho is this book for? How about anyone who has ever wondered
Why do I matter or
Is my life a bunch of random events"? Questioning Christmas unfolds in easy and understandable ways to show that you matter, you are loved, and that there is a God who is not random, whimsical, or unapproachable. McCaskill accomplishes this through reworking the Christmas carol The Twelve Days of Christmas,
with each day representing a new gift that further reveals the value and importance you hold as a created person in God’s image. So go ahead and buy the book; each chapter will prove its worth in helping you make the leap."

I n the spirit of C.S. Lewis, Tim Keller, and, more recently, Dr. Rebecca McLaughlin, Rich McCaskill asks and answers the most important questions of our universe. He does so deftly, carefully, and with the pastoral gentleness that reveals his years in ministry. This book will help many, Christians and non-Christians, sort out all of the competing narratives around existence, meaning, and Christmas itself.
Justin Anderson, Lead Pastor,
Icon Church, Seattle WA
"R ich McCaskill brings modern wonder to an ancient story. They’re all here—the artists and poets, songwriters and novelists, atheists and devout, history and modernity—all in conversation around the beauty, the mystery, the miracle of life—and if you pan back a bit, you may discover your soul engaging that conversation. Whether you are not sure you believe—or you are sure you don’t believe— Questioning Christmas is a refreshing take on the nativity narrative that all can appreciate. A delightful ride!"
Adam Richardson, PhD, University of Leicester;
Lead Pastor, Church at Sandhurst, Florence SC

About the Author
Virgins giving birth? Angels serenading shepherds? Mystical stars magically appearing? Is this stuff for real?
Much about Christmas sounds more like a fairy tale than recorded history. No wonder modern people find it difficult to believe. And this isn’t all that is wrong with the story.
I asked my two teenagers what their classmates thought of Christianity. They said their friends see Christians as a hateful group who are intellectually deficient (in their words ‘stupid’) for believing in something which has no evidence to support it. One of them has a friend with a one-word screen saver on her phone that reads ‘Jesus.’ When my daughter asked about this, her friend smiled and said, It just makes me laugh.
At best, Christians are branded misguided and gullible, and, at worst, they are seen as enemies of peace and harmony
