The Hispanic Pilgrim - José Velasco

    Presentation

The book about the Hispanic Pilgrim is a novel made up of a character named Pilgrim. A man who represents the great masses of pilgrims, or immigrants, in Latin America. He was born in a town called Irayol, in a country where crime and corruption reign, and, as a result of delinquency and poverty, he wanted to leave but could not do so on his own. Later, a figure from God appears to him and gives him instructions to travel to the promised land and to the city of Zion, the city of the great eternal King. There, stones are made of gold and precious pearls, milk and honey flow like water, houses are palaces, and the King of that land gifts everything. The only thing you have to do is to believe in his word, emigrate to that land and be strong and brave, to face the vicissitudes of the road. José V. Velasco presents the book of the Pilgrim as a drama of the present time. But with a vision of the beyond.

    Acknowledgments

I would like to thank all the people who worked on this book of the Hispanic Pilgrim wholeheartedly. A book that tells the story of the need for a kingdom and a just king for all people. Thanks to the team of editors and proofreaders and the efforts of my family and friends who helped. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t hard either with an average of 6,880 hours of work, 35 hours a week for over four and a half years. For I am a working-class man in the industries of the most powerful country in the world in the 21st century, where life is not easy at all, the monthly expenses are enormous, one cannot afford not to want to work for a day, but thanks to the team that worked on the edition of The Hispanic Pilgrim and to a just God who still works for all of us, helping us in everything we need, and for helping those who come to him, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. This name is above every name in heaven and on earth, to whom be all glory, honor, power, and praise forever and ever, amen.

    Introduction

The Hispanic pilgrim. A book that tells the stories and myths of our Latino villages and the current drama of thousands of people who migrate from their homeland in search of a dream, of a better life for them and their families. This book is meant to remind us that we are all pilgrims in this life. God is with us, to guide us to the very world we want to find and for people who like good books. The Hispanic Pilgrim: A book written by José V Velasco, a working-class man in the industries of the most powerful country in the world in the 21st century, where he has arrived from one of the most conflictive and corrupt countries in the region. With a dream. The dream of working and making money, to return to his village with his family and live with them until the end. However, upon realizing that his dream was impossible, he decided to have his family emigrate with him and to remain in the country where many would like to go, escaping from their countries of origin; given the misguided policies and the poverty which exists in their villages or countries, seeking a dream, that for many, has become a real nightmare. Jose V Velasco remains as a foreigner in the country of dreams where he emigrated. He realized the need for a government that looks after the interests of each inhabitant and helps the neediest, creating programs that help all its citizens and prevent people from having to emigrate, as it is painful to emigrate.

José V Velasco, worried about this period of life in which time doesn’t seem to stop and even when you work and work, you only obtain debts, debts and more debts, since everything just increases in price every day; he decided to investigate by himself. And after having studied, he realized that everything is a vanity of vanities as he said; the preacher. The only thing that comes after such a sacrifice is death. Jose V Velasco decided to give himself a rest, and for seven days, he slept and slept; he only got up for a few moments and then went back to his bed to sleep, and in that sleep, he had many dreams. But the one that impressed him the most was the dream of The Pilgrim. He saw how the life of a character called Pilgrim, his comforts, and good thoughts of becoming a great man on earth, the dreams became a nightmare to him. He decided to travel to the land of dreams; the land called the Promised Land, inspired by the words of an angel who revealed to him the secret of a land where there are life and abundance of life; where there is no death or disease; poverty or crime, a world we all would like to find to live forever with our happy and fulfilled families, without realizing that one day we will have to separate. He also saw that people, after so all those sacrifices and having achieved some dreams, end up sick and frustrated with life; without enjoyment. Many take refuge in wine, others in drugs, to forget the sorrows of life. So, without delay, he decided to write of his dream, the dream about the life of the Hispanic Pilgrim.

    A Compilation:

Someone said: If you have a problem, try to solve it, and if you can’t, forget about it, time shall. But the master Jesus Christ taught us to pray without ceasing, not to enter into temptation. The temptation is the seduction of wanting to do or have something of great value that seems good but can be fatal; one of the examples is the one of King David in 1 Chronicle 21 as he took a census; it did not seem to be wrong, but it was not God’s will, and it proved to be fatal. Another case is that of Bathsheba, the woman who attracted his attention; Chapters 11 and 12 of Samuel 2. A problem to have long term. Today we know that temptation is seduction, or attraction, to something we should not do or touch. Still, if we pray to God and ask for His divine protection in the name of His son, He will free us from the power of Satan and his demons, who are the ones who induce us to do what we should not do, which move around us, wherever we are. They have the power to induce humans to do wrong things, and so, in that way, they control people and have the power to make them kill each other before their time. They can also make people sick and die before their time.

This novel tells the life of a person who migrates from his village to the city of Zion. A city that is located in the northern part of the planet. According to Ezekiel Chapter 1, where life becomes a reality, because God is there. Where people live forever, and there is no fear of anything but God our Heavenly Father. Who lives in the beauty of His glory and Jesus Christ, His Son. Everything that a person could wish for is there, such as safety, health, which means life, and an abundance of food. There is no crime, no injustice. Therefore, there are no prisons or police stations. There are no hospitals, no public or private health care systems. Neither forced nor poorly paid labor. There, everything that has life serves other creatures, from the grass to the plants to the superior beings, no one thinks they are the master of anyone, because there is only one Lord and one God and our father.

The challenge is to get to that city. But if you have faith in yourself and in the master of that city, you will get there, somehow. The owner of that city sends help to those who are preparing to get there because he wants to populate that land with people of every race, language, tribe, and nation. And may they all live as one true family, without intrigue or deceit, loving each other as themselves and God above all things, and swearing allegiance to the prince. The pilgrim, a common person, born in a small rustic town called the Irayol. It is more like a village or a town. There, everything seems fine; no danger is evident. People keep busy with their chores, women work in their homes and take care of the youngest children, and most of the men go to the fields to work, some work so far away from home that they don’t even see their families. They leave in the morning and return late at night only to sleep, the weekend is the only day they see their families, they go to the village church and then return home to prepare what they will take to the labor camp the next day. And so, days, months and years go by until life is over, just like in every city in the world. The same desire of all men and every day, the same work under heaven, some come, and some go. Who is wise enough to know the plans of the eternal one? Would they be prudent enough to see God’s favor? We live until we run out of health, and then death surprises some of us early because of our recklessness. Others come later. But the time of death will come for all of us sooner or later. The saddest thing is that some suffer from different diseases before they die, and without hope of a cure, life becomes a living hell to them. But one thing is certain, and that is that there is life, even after death.

Other people are weaker when the weekend comes, and they like to go to the center of the city and there, sit and watch the movement of the population, something that is customary in Latin towns. Then, they go to the places of prostitution to drink wine or other liquors, until they get drunk. Then, drunk, they start offending each other and end up hitting or verbally abusing each other, even hurting each other with sharp weapons. As a result, some of them never return home. Some end up in jail where the authorities and others mistreat them end up in hospitals; others die; a moment of happiness turns into a misfortune that marks a whole family and an entire town. Their relatives go to the city and look for them everywhere until they find them; this pain is constantly repeated in the communities of all the villages of the earth.

Another instance is that of the solemn festivals, and one of them is the harvest. When the harvest comes, all the crops are cut down, and a party is held to celebrate the hard work of that year; everything is cooked, and families have parties and visit each other to talk about all the fruits harvested as a great feat accomplished during the year. They prepare homemade wines, and others buy the ones made by the government, making the party the best in the neighborhood. They drink, dance, and eat without control; others like to tell fairy tales or horror stories, the parties end in misfortune often. Some of these families end up fighting with other families after something bad happened during the night while they were drinking, eating, and talking.

    The conception of Pilgrim

It is 1821, the time of the industrial revolution and the revolution of independence of the enslaved peoples. It is the harvest festival, the neighbor’s son raped the daughter of the house, and no one noticed, the young man took advantage of the family’s friendship and the courtesy of the young woman, slept with her, and that is when the conflict between two families began.

    The girl’s father says:

—How is it possible that you did such a thing, my child, how is it that you didn’t scream and ask for help? It’s not that we want you to be a nun; what we want is for you to get married and have a family, like your mother and me. But now, I will go and talk to this low—life father or I will have to teach him a good lesson. I’ll be right back; I’m going to teach this boy a lesson.

    His wife says:

—Hold on a moment, my dear husband. I’m coming with you.

The husband, ashamed of his daughter’s embarrassment; of having been raped before marriage, tells his wife:

—No, you stay here at home; I’ll go by myself and talk to this

arrogant bastard, and I’ll teach him a lesson.

    His wife answers:

—No, don’t go alone; wait for me. I’ll come with you.

    The father says:

—No, I’ll be right back, wait for me here. The wife goes after him, to accompany him and thus avoid a misfortune, as often happens because of a claim of this they end up involved in a fight, in which there is a fatality and so to avoid this misfortune, the young woman’s mother goes after him.

The father of the girl arrives at the place where the family of the father of the young man who raped his daughter last night lives, greets the family and says to the first person he sees:

—Is the head of the house here?

    The people say:

    —Yes, he’s here!

—Tell him to come out, because I, his neighbor on the right, am here and want to talk to him.

The person who is attending to him goes and tells the young man’s father who asks who is looking for him. The young man’s father says:

—Tell him to come in; I’ll be right out; let him wait a moment.

    The girl’s father replies:

    —All right, I’ll wait outside.

    The young man’s father says:

—Hello Fidel, how are you? What can I do for you, my dear neighbor Fidel?

    Fidel answers and says:

—Yes, I’ve come to talk to you, Anthony, about a very delicate matter, so I ask you to have a little bit of sensibility; to avoid entering into a controversy that would cause enmity between your family and mine, since we’ve always been good neighbors, almost like family, and I don’t want our friendship to end in enmity.

    Mr. Anthony:

—Tell me, what’s going on, Fidel?

    Mr. Fidel:

—What’s going on is that last night, while we were eating,

drinking, and talking, your son was raping my daughter, and this is very serious. I would like to know how we can repair this offense against my daughter without violence.

    Mr. Anthony:

—My dear neighbor, you don’t know how sorry I am, but let me talk to this boy about this and see what he intends to do with it, for I know this is very serious, and I wouldn’t want our

friendship to end in enmity. I think there must be a solution to this, let’s give it some time Fidel and everything will be solved.

    Mr. Fidel:

—I’m not leaving this place until you give me a good answer that will help me get some peace of mind.

    Mr. Anthony:

—Wait a moment, and I’ll get him and bring him to you, so you can listen to what he says, and everything will work out the best way possible, okay, Fidel?

    Mr. Fidel:

    —All right, I’ll wait here.

    Mr. Anthony:

—Son, get up, we have something to do, and it’s urgent.

    Joseph answers and says:

—Leave me alone, Dad; I’m resting, it’s my day off.

    Mr. Anthony:

—Yes, I know, son, but there’s something very serious here, and I want you to get up, so we can fix it.

While the father talks to his son, the lady of the house, or the young man’s mother, attends to her neighbors, offers them food and water, sits down with them and starts asking questions.

    Mrs. Petronila:

—What is going on, or what did my son do that we aren’t aware of?

    Mr. Fidel:

—What happened is so serious that we will all discuss it together, and then you will understand the situation, Mrs. Petronila.

    Mr. Anthony:

—Here’s my son, let’s relax a bit and talk about the matter without getting upset, Fidel.

    Mr. Fidel:

    —All right, neighbor Anthony.

    Mr. Anthony:

—Our neighbor is here, son, because last night, while we were talking about the achievements we had throughout the year, you slept with his daughter and raped her; now he wants to know what your intentions are with the girl, to leave her like this or to marry her to honor her, and thus we shall all end up as a family. What can you tell us about the matter, my son?

Joseph remains calm, quiet, and then says:

—I, to be honest, don’t have anything to say right now. I don’t know what the best answer would be; so that no one gets angry with me. I’d like you to give me more time to make a good decision without hurting either of us; how about giving me more time because now I have nothing to say.

Fidel stands up in outrage with what the boy just said.

    Mrs. Mary:

—Sit down, my dear husband; let’s see what the young man’s parents have to say.

    Mr. Anthony:

—Son, would you agree to marry the daughter of our neighbors and make a home with her? As for us, we will still need you because you are our financial and job support, and as for you, since you will move on to a new life, you have to be more responsible. You will no longer sleep as much as you do today, but you will have to work hard to support your family. However, this is going to be very good in the long term. Our neighbors want an answer today; I want you to take fifteen minutes and think about what you’re going to do so that our neighbors will go away calm and sleep in peace. I’ll go with you, and we’ll talk about this, in the meantime, you can go by yourself, we’ll get something to eat, and we’ll talk, then I’ll join you, okay, my son?

    Joseph:

—Okay, father, I’ll wait for you; when you and the neighbors finish talking, I’ll have the answer for you; one thing I’m sure of is that what I’ll do will be right and with your permission.

The parents of the young people involved were there in the room, enjoying the moment, talking about when the kids were little, how they played running around that place, and how they had to look out for them and know that now everything had changed; but that what happened should not become a problem that divides them, rather it should unite them into one family.

    Mr. Anthony:

—I’m going to find the boy and talk to him. Son, what decision have you made? I hope that your decision is the correct one, so we can all be at peace and not become hostile with our neighbors with whom we have always acted as a family.

    Joseph:

—Yes, Dad, what I did wasn’t right, but I’m willing to marry the girl; the only issue is that I’m going to leave you, and I won’t be able to help you with the work.

    Mr. Anthony:

—Yes, my son, but that was going to happen sooner or later, we all have to go through the same thing; so don’t worry, we’re going to talk to them and let them know you’ll be made responsible for the girl by marrying her.

    Joseph:

    —All right, Dad.

    Mr. Anthony:

—Well, let’s go over there, my son, and let’s make everything all right. I think our son has made a good decision which will help everyone, so that life will continue as it has until today, and with stronger ties; come on my son, tell them what you have thought of doing with Mary.

    Joseph:

—I ask your forgiveness, for the damage I have caused to all of you, to my parents and you, the parents of my new fiancée; to my parents because I will no longer be the help I was to them, on the contrary, today I will be a burden to them, because they will have to share, what they have managed to achieve with so many sacrifices, with me. For me to have something to share with my new family and with you, the parents of my future wife. I also ask for forgiveness for the psychological damage I caused you due to what happened with the one who will now be my fiancée. So, I ask for forgiveness for everything and everyone, and may God bless our future. I am ready to assume my responsibility with Mary Eagle, my future wife. To have the best family, to marry her and be a good neighbor in our neighborhood. Do you agree with the decision I’ve made? That’s all I can do.

    Everyone:

—Yes, Joseph, we agree with your decision.

    Joseph:

—Father, I want a piece of land near your house to build my house, where I will live with my new family so that we all take care of each other and help each other somehow. Do you agree?

    Everyone answered:

—Yes, that’s a good idea, so that we’re not far away; and this way, take care of each other and help each other however we can.

    Joseph:

—And so, my children can grow up near their grandparents, and our happiness will multiply. I will raise an altar to Our Saints, between my parents’ house and the house of my in—laws and myself. So that there we can worship our gods and everyone who wants to come and worship our gods can come, and so we avoid going too far, to worship and pray.

Joseph Anthony of the Monte and his mother Petronila of the Monte told him:

—Yes, my son; of course, we agree.

    Joseph:

—Mr. Fidel and Mrs. Mary, do you agree?

    Mrs. Mary:

—Of course, Joseph, as long as it’s for the good of all, we hope our daughter will be happy with you, and that way we will all be happy in our community, and not only that, but we will be an example to all our neighbors.

    Joseph:

—Then, with God’s help and yours, I’ll start the plans for my new house tomorrow.

    Again, everyone shouted:

    —That’s great, Joseph!

    The Wedding

Joseph, with the help of his parents and in—laws and some friends, starts building his house. The house must be finished in less than three months, to celebrate the wedding and move in with his wife Mary, everything that seemed a problem without a solution is now on the right track; everyone is happy with the new family that is joining the neighborhood. They begin the construction of the new house, and after three months, the house is almost finished and the day of the wedding has arrived; all the necessary arrangements have been made, and there is a lot of
