    A LOVING FAMILY

It was the day Nori Westlyn was so excited to come home from school. The summer was approaching, and she had just finished her last book report.

As mommy opened the doors of the old yellow house they lived in, she didn’t hesitate to run into her home and into daddy’s arms.

How is my little princess? Daddy asked.

Nori maroon school uniform shined bright in her father’s eyes, along with her great big smile. Her curly long two ponytails hung down, just like they would on the pony of a horse. Nori dropped her white Skip and Hop backpack and pink lunchbox.

Are you excited for the move to the city? he asked. Yes, Yes, and Yes! she said, with so much excitement.

Mr. Robert Westlyn was a very serious man who was an oral surgeon in the small town of North Attenborough, Massachusetts. He was a well- respected man and surgeon in the small town. But, when they offered him a job in the city of Boston, Massachusetts, he couldn’t pass that up for the world, and it was something that would be life-changing. Being an oral surgeon in a small town had its magnificent pros, but being one in the city of Boston, you gained your perks. The smile on Mr. Westlyn face gave you the comfort that all would be okay. His smile made you realize that he was there to heal not harm. You could always tell what he was thinking, his facial expressions gave it all away. The dark skin tone on Mr. Westlyn couldn’t give his nationality away. The Westlyn family was very ethnic, it was hard to tell where they came from. Mr. Westlyn was half-black and the other half was white. He was a man that was proud of who and what he was. Yet, he just looked like your everyday ordinary black man. A man who worked hard, and was always himself. The King of the House the entire Westlyn family called him. He was raised in a family with very little money, and he put himself through college. He also helped work and pay bills in his family’s house when reality really hit when growing up. If there was one wish he had in the world, it would be for his children to not experience the struggles that he had while growing up. This is why he needed to take this new job, to prevent himself and his family from going through the same struggles he encountered while growing up. Making more money to support the family would keep the Westlyn family financially stable.

Mrs. Kim Westlyn is always a wife and mother to her entire family. She is a woman who always puts her family first, and she is a beautiful Arabian woman. No matter what kind of mood she is in, if someone were to ask Mrs. Westlyn, What have you accomplished? she would most likely respond, I have been a wife and mother and that’s a huge accomplishment for me, and she would say this very proudly. While everyone in the family was out in the world doing work or school, she was the stay at home housewife, who prepared dinner. Mrs. Westlyn was far away from being a lazy housewife. The house was left immaculate, there wasn’t a dust bunny that could hop around and live happily ever after. She left the tables with shine. The windows sparkled like there was no glass there. If someone walked by them, they would think they were outside. Taking care of a household was what she did best. Watching her family accomplish their dreams made her happy. Nothing but an honorable mother and faithful wife.

Mrs. Westlyn watched her six year old daughter rant on about the exciting move to the new city of Boston. Mrs. Westlyn looked at her husband with her big brown eyes. He leaned over and gave her a kiss on the lips, and starred at her.

This is really a new start for us honey, he said in a whisper. It’s quite the change for us, Mrs. Westlyn said in a soft voice.

The two of them went into a romantic gaze, and it was like their wedding day all over again when they kissed. The two were married in Paris and had the most romantic unforgettable get away. Nori was digging through her backpack for her crayons. Kim and Robert went into a romantic moment, a moment of pleasure, secrecy, and privacy, something they both hadn’t had in a while. He loved her for being the supportive wife. She loved him for being the perfect husband. When they both went in for a second kiss, Booooooom! The front door slams shut with rapid force. You would have thought elephants came into the house. It was Miss Aryanna Sydney Westlyn, dressed in her sky blue cheerleading outfit. She slammed her pom-poms on the floor.

Remind me again why we have such a dramatic teenage daughter, Mr. Westlyn said.

We love her, Mrs. Westlyn said, in her soft voice as always.

I’m not dramatic, dad! she said yelling so the Gods could hear her. I got kicked off the team, Aryanna said.

We are moving anyway, dear, Mrs. Westlyn said.

That’s not the point mom, I got kicked off the team because of an argument with Betsy-Jo, Aryanna said. She pushed me while forming the pyramid. I could have broken my neck, she added. So I shoved her and she fell, she yelled.

Two wrongs do not make a right, Ary bear, Mrs. Westlyn said.

Okay, did you get the last hit before school ended? Mr. Westlyn asked in a sarcastic tone.

Mrs. Westlyn gave him the look of disappointment. Anyone could tell when she was about to scold someone. Unfortunately, she never had an angry face, just a frowned up face.

Well, it’s been a long day for all of us, said Mrs. Westlyn.

Ding-Dong! The doorbell rings of the tiny yellow house. Aryanna walks over to answer it.

Who is it? she asks. Robert Jr., he said.

Robert Jr. who? Aryanna asked in a sarcastic voice.

Robert Jr. Westlyn, who will bunch you in the face if you don’t open the door, he said very angry.

Ary bear open the door for your older brother, Mrs. Westlyn said.

Aryanna rolls her eyes and opens the door slowly. As the door opens, Nori jumps right on her older brother.

    I missed you, Nori said.

How was school? Mrs. Westlyn asked. I hate School, he replied.

Robert Jr. was the second man of the house. Named after his father, but everyone called him R.J. He was tall and ready to start a new school. He was only going into the tenth grade, and yet he had NBA skills. Basketball was his life and anything that involved academics was his hell. The school he was going to in the new city of Boston was a new high school where you could practice basketball enough to hopefully get a scholarship to college. All he talked about was the game of basketball. Mr. Westlyn thought that every minute he was thinking about it, even in his sleep or nightmares.

I can’t wait to start the new team in Boston, dad, R.J. said.

There’s more to life than just sports, son, Mr. Westlyn said in his deep voice.

Sometimes I wish you would focus more on school and less on sports, Mr. Westlyn said.

I don’t do school good, dad, R.J. said sadly. Don’t we all Know, Aryanna said rolling her eyes.

I think you’re great in ball R.J., said Nori in her sweet little voice.

You know, son, I just want you to look at the more important things in life. I want you to see how education is the way to go, no matter what you want to do in life. You’re not going to get into a good college without good grades; it just doesn’t happen like that.

Mr. Westlyn went deeper into his lecture, but this time it was more in depth.

Why can’t you kids just listen to what I am saying, education will take you anywhere you want to go. Please put it first in your life not last, Mr. Westlyn said with a smooth, soft, manly voice.

I am straight A’s Daddy, said Nori.

‘’ I know you are, princess; now teach your brother how to be, please," said Mr. Westlyn in a sarcastic voice.

R.J. gave his dad the look of disappointment and then marched up the stairs stomping so everyone could hear him. He gave his dad an evil glare that was full of evil and challenging. Mr. Westlyn gave him the look of frustration, and the two looked deeply at each other as if they were going to have some kind of animal fight in the jungle.

Why don’t we finish packing for the big move before I start dinner, said Mrs. Kim Westlyn in a soft voice.

She always had a way of releasing tension from peoples mind. Everything was so relaxing when she was around. Mrs. Westlyn was the glue that held the family firm and together. When Mr. Westlyn fought with R.J., she had a cure. When Nori got put on time out, she had a cure. When Ary had a bad day, she had a cure. There was nothing she couldn’t solve in family problems. No one could ever tell she was frustrated with whatever was going on in her own life. She was under a lot of stress with the new move, but she never let it show. Mrs. Westlyn put her family before herself, and that’s all that was important.

Why don’t we go pack up your toys for the new move, Nori bear, said Mrs. Westlyn.

She grabbed her little girl by the hand and walked her to her bedroom. Mommy, what’s the new house going to be like? Nori asked.

Blue and Big, said Mrs. Westlyn in a sweet voice. Mommy, what is Boston like? Nori asked.

I suppose it’s a nice city honey, said Mrs. Westlyn. Mommy, will Daddy and R.J. ever get along? Nori asked. Once in a blue moon they will, honey, Mrs. Westlyn said.

I don’t think they ever will then because the moon is never blue, said Nori in her cute little girl voice.

Oh, Honey, said Mrs. Westlyn and she laughed with joy. Mommy is the new house pretty? Nori asked.

We’ll just have to wait and see honey, said Mrs. Kim Westlyn.

    THE BIG BLUE HOUSE

The drive to Boston wasn’t long, it was about thirty minutes long. But, being in the car with the entire Westlyn family made it seem like thirty hours long. Mr. Westlyn drove the new big black SUV, sitting as if he was a king. Mrs. Westlyn sat in the front seat, where she would educate her mind with books about nature or even magazines about decorating a home. As for the children in the back of the car, they just managed to entertain themselves with electronics that were made to block out the world around you. R.J. sat playing on his phone, some battleship game he downloaded off the internet. Ary sat looking at a vogue magazine of celebrity’s, while intrigued with her IPod music she blasts all night long. As for little Norielle, she sat there, holding her white pony that had the tail of a rainbow and gazing at the lines on the road as they slowly left their old hometown. It was a new start for the Westlyn family. New friends, new school, and a new life. Moreover, the new arguments they would encounter within the family and outside the family.

The drive seemed longer and longer by the minute as they drove on.

Can you please turn that music down, Ary? Mr. Westlyn said in a stern voice.

I have to blast it, R.J’s stupid game boy is loud, Aryanna said with anger. Why don’t you worry about you, and not me? R.J said.

I know you two can get along through this drive, said Mrs. Westlyn, trying to keep the peace.

Are we almost there yet, mommy? said Nori in her little voice. Soon, Honey, Mrs. Westlyn replied.

I am not going to ask you again to turn down that music, Aryanna Sydney Westlyn! Mr. Westlyn said with rage in his voice.

Ok, Aryanna said giving her father a sass of attitude she knew he did not like.

You know what, Aryanna, the tone needs to be adjusted, Mrs. Westlyn said.

It does; she needs anger management, said R.J. Shut Up! said Aryanna with a loud voice. You shut up, R.J. said.

    Who are you talking too?

You, who else would I be talking to, R.J. said in an angry tone of discomfort.

Aryanna was resting her head on a little pillow that she looked comfortable laying on. She took it from behind her head and began beating R.J. viciously with it. R.J took his game boy and threw it at her head. Nori took her rainbow pony and began smacking the two of them.

Stop Ary and R.J., Nori said.

R.J and Aryanna began fighting loudly in the back seat, while poor little Nori tried to break it up.

You three stop that nonsense! I’m driving, said Mr. Westlyn in a furious tone.

As R.J and Ary began fighting more, the louder their voices became. The louder their voices became, the more intense the fight got. Mr. Westlyn decided to keep driving, he looked back and saw Aryannas hair messed up. As for R.J, he was being suffocated with a pillow by his sister. Nori continued to rant and rave the words STOP. R.J pushed Aryanna against the car door, and the pillow flew right out of her hands. The pillow landed right on the wheel like an air bag. The car swerved left and right on the road, while cars beeped loudly.

Where on earth did you get your license from, buddy? A driver on the road shouted.

Mr. Westlyn was beyond fed up with his children’s behavior. He pulled over the car as quickly as possible. Everyone in the car swerved from left to right. The fighting didn’t matter anymore just Mr. Westlyns crazy U-turn.

    ENOUGH! screamed Mr. Westlyn.

The entire car went silent and everyone looked immediately shocked. The car was parked at the side of the raod, and cars were racing by.

This is a new start for our family, we don’t need anymore drama to continue! Mr. Westlyn said, yelling at the top of his lungs.

Ok, Honey, calm down, Mrs. Kim Westlyn said trying to keep the peace. Your father is right, it’s a new start and no more drama between you two,

    Mrs. Westlyn said.

Mrs. Westlyn reached over, rubbing the back of her husband. She looked behind her where she saw Aryanna with her aggravated face on. Mrs. Westlyn already knew that R.J was pouting like a big baby. But, the drive still had to continue to the new blue house.

As the family drives through the city of Boston, they begin to notice the new changes they would need to get used to seeing. The city of Boston was bigger than what the Westlyn family had seen. Boston, Massachusetts, wasn’t only a city, it was historical. History that made its mark on the world. The huge buildings downtown sparkled with shine as the sun beamed on them. It was the first time Nori laid eyes on the state house. Its Golden cap lit up her brown eyes like fire and amazed her with surprise.

Mommy, Mommy look at the big gold nugget! Nori said loudly. I know, honey, the state house, Mrs. Nori said, informing her.

The city of Boston was exquisite to Norielle, who never experienced it before. But, to Aryanna and R.J, it was just a city that they saw many times when they went into the city with their friends. It was nothing new to the teens of the family, just the new change was.

Did you guys know that Boston has some of the best universities in the country, Mr. Westlyn said.

I graduated from Harvard, Mr. Westlyn said, trying to brag. Honey, stop bragging! Mrs. Kim Westlyn said.

Well, I hope our children go to Harvard, said Mr. Westlyn.

The children in the back of the car giggled with laughter while sitting in the back seat. The city was just another small city to the Westlyn family. But to Nori, it was a dream come true. She couldn’t stop looking at the glass windows of the buildings. When she looked up, there was the great blue sky.

Nori started to go into her little dream world. But then, her older sister interrupted her wonderful gaze.

So, Dad, where is this new hospital place again? asked Aryanna.

I will be doing rotations in different hospitals, he said, trying to sound extra sophisticated.

No way! Mom you so need to take me shopping on Newbury street, Aryanna said with enthusiasm.

You so need to work part-time, Mr. Westlyn said with sarcasm. AHHHH! R.J started to laugh.

Speaking of money, we need to be very careful about how we spend, Mr. Westlyn said in a serious tone.

Dad, aren’t we rich? You’re Doctor, R.J said.

Now, son, it doesn’t matter what career you have, you still have to learn how to manage your money, Mr. Westlyn said.

There is a lot that I have to think about, Mr. Westlyn added with a sigh in his voice.

The drive felt long with all of the chaos that went on in the vehicle. The drive was almost over, and so was the wait to finally move into the house that was the talk of the family. The car became silent and the sun was starting to go down. The road was smooth while the car was fast moving. Mr. Westlyn turned the car into a quiet neighborhood. No one from the neighborhood was outside, it was just a silent gloomy mood. Mr. Westlyn looked to the right and saw that the movers were just about to leave. He quickly parked the car and ran over to greet them.

Hey, Buck, Mr. Westlyn said. Hello, Robert, said Buck.

Mr. Westlyn reached into his wallet to give him a couple of bucks.

Thanks for moving the last couple of things in the house. We have been so busy trying to keep everything together, Mr. Westlyn said.

    No Problem, replied Buck.

Thanks for the Bucks; my name is Buck and I love Bucks, said Buck. Mr. Westlyn started to laugh and make conversation.

An older gentleman, a little heavy set, came around the corner. He had on black jeans and an old ripped shirt.

This is Steven, he is the guy who helped me move all the items in your house, Buck said.

    Thanks, man, Mr. Westlyn said.

Mr. Westlyn reached out to shake his hand, trying to be as polite as possible. Steven started to shake like he had seen a ghost.

Is there something wrong? asked Mr. Westlyn.

There is something in that house. I can sense it, replied Steven. What! Buck and Mr. Westlyn shouted at the same time.

I saw something, something pushed me as I was walking down the stairs, Steven said in a frightened voice.

Steven’s breath smelled of pure alcohol, and his teeth were more rotten than a pet rats teeth. His old ripped clothes smelled like cigarettes, while his oily sweaty hair laid to the side.

You can’t move in there man, said Steven.

I apologize. He has had way too much to drink today, said Buck. We should get going, Buck said trying to keep a sense of calmness.

Buck took his keys out of his pocket and hopped into his truck. Steven ran into the truck as if something was chasing him. Mr. Westlyn came around to talk to Buck at his car window. Steven kept staring at the house as if he was waiting for something to happen. Buck and Steven became so engrossed in their conversation about how nice the house was.

The master bedroom is really big, said Buck.

I know it is so spacious, and I love the huge windows, said Mr. Westlyn. It’s a great house man, said Buck.

Steven stayed sitting in the front seat of the car shaking in terror. His big blue eyes looked huge and frightened. He stared, looking out the window and biting on his fingernails. He looked at the window where the attic was. He stared hard at it when he saw a gloomy shadow. The harder Steven starred the more vivid the shadow became. But, he couldn’t stop looking at it, he was so drawn to it. A young boy appeared before his eyes right at the window. The young boy gave him an evil glare.

    Ahhhhhhhh! said Steven.

Drive the TRUCK! Steven shouted. What is your Problem! shouted Buck.

    "Is your
