Person 2: Facts B. Tourists dead be buggin.

    A Letter to My Readers

    Dear Readers,

I did this for you. Yes, you. I wrote this for my hardworking people who love to read, but do not have time to read a novel or invest in a plot. I also wrote this for the kids in the hood who are tired of reading the works of dead white men and want a piece of their culture or history reflected. I also wrote this for my kids living in neighborhoods with no diversity save the adopted Black or Asian kid. But mostly this is for anyone who is willing to read what I have to say and who believes in freedom of speech—and that transcends many divides.

I wish everyone could live in my world and see all the beauty and talent that I get to see. Growing up in New York City, there is music pouring through the streets, and people dancing outside, and beat boxing, and spitting bars (freestyle rapping). There’s merengue, bachata, dancehall, reggae, hip hop, R&B, and more. There’s so much self-expression all around for you to see. Whether rich or poor, New York
