Lay Counseling Series: Psychologists and Theologians, Can They Integrate?
()
About this ebook
Lay Counseling Series involves a caring relationship in which one person seeks to help another deal more effectively with the stresses of life. I have put together twelve lay counseling subjects. This is the first book in the series: Can psychologists and Christian Counselors Integrate? People helping is taught in the scriptures.
Dr. Jerry E. McKeehan
I grew up in the church but at 16, I gave my life to Christ. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University (APU) and earned a BA in Christian Education. I then attended Trinity College of Graduate Studies and received dual Master's in Pastoral Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). I continued my Christian education and received my Doctoral at Trinity Evangelical Seminary of Florida (D.Min.). I am currently attending Water of Life (WOL) Church, Fontana CA where I graduated from their School of Ministry Program.

Psychologists and Theologians, can they integrate?
Counseling Definition
Counseling (people helpers) involves the establishment of a time-limited relationship that is structured to provide comfort for troubled persons by enhancing their awareness of God’s grace and faithful presence and thereby increasing their ability to live their lives more fully in the light of these realizations. (1)
Dr. Gary Collins
Dr. John White says it well: People who want to help people need two Things
: First, a profound understanding of the deepest needs of the human heart. Second, an ongoing experience of having their own needs met. (2)
Putting the Soul Back into Psychology
Paul Tournier, in his book Secrets
, puts it this way:
