Chapter 1: What is a True Spiritual Warrior?

‘No Problem can be solved at the same level of consciousness that created it.’

A True Spiritual Warrior is someone who has chosen to defend the honor of God, the honor of the Light. Anyone can choose to be a True Spiritual Warrior. It does not matter where you are from, or what you have done. It does not matter your nationality, ethnic origin, or religion. You are worthy and able to serve God in your own unique way.

Our Creator is known by many names, including Great Spirit, Supreme Being, Allah, Brahman, YHWH, The Light, Parvardigar, Krishna, Ahura Mazda, Universal Intelligence, etc. God is the name I call our Creator, because that is how I grew up knowing God, but you can call the Creator any term you feel comfortable with.

God is the Creator of life. All that God creates is good, pure, and perfect. God loves us unconditionally, and always wants the best for us. God is not about separation, domination, or manipulation. God should never be used as justification to hurt or control another.

Unfortunately, in our World, we see hunger, poverty, crime, drugs, abuse, pollution, war without end, and many other examples of the general decay of our society.

It seems like things are getting worse and worse, and our very survival may be in question. Many wonder how God can allow such terrible things to happen. Many may even blame God for their personal problems. If God is truly all-powerful, how can bad things continue?

But we can’t blame God. In fact, it is just the opposite. It is because we have not included God in our creation process that we experience difficulty. Each one of us is creating our own reality, now. This may be hard to believe, because it feels like others have so much control over what is happening to us. When we have problems in our personal life, it’s ‘their’ fault. For example, you might think everything would be better if it wasn’t for my spouse, or my parents, or my children, or my boss, etc. In our World, we can feel insignificant, and it seems impossible that we could make any difference compared to the great power of the government, or the politicians, or the rich, or the corporations, etc. Sometimes, you might even feel like giving up. What’s the use?

But we all must remember that we are actually Spiritual Beings first. Most of us have forgotten this, and we live as if the physical, material aspect of reality is the most important thing. The physical is our top priority. The majority of our time and energy is spent on non-spiritual concerns. This is our difficulty. As Einstein notes, a different ‘level of consciousness’ is needed if we are to solve our problems. Each one of us needs to become more conscious of our true spiritual nature. We must begin to live as if the spiritual aspect of realty is the most important thing. We need to totally shift our priorities and focus on the spiritual. This is the new level of consciousness that is needed. Our problems can be solved if we all can become consciously aware that we are primarily Spiritual Beings.

When I say ‘spiritual’, I am not talking about religion. Your religion is your own personal choice, and you are free to practice it as you wish. Here, I discuss the fact that all human beings have a part of us that we call ‘spiritual’. Because we have a conscious awareness, we know there is more to us than just this physical, material body. Although we may not be able to define it, we can feel that there is specialness about us. Somehow, we are a part of something bigger and greater, and we have the ability to become more aware of the meaning and purpose for life. We can increase our consciousness, and perhaps, better understand the reason for our existence.

It’s fascinating to me that science might be helpful in opening us up to a new level of conscious awareness. In my life, I have always had a lot of value for the scientific basis for how things work. I have a degree in Chemical Engineering, and I’ve learned that it is important to determine the practical aspects for anything. Engineering is the application of science and math in the World. Depending on the degree, we learn a high level of the sciences and mathematics, so that the nature of things can be made useful to mankind.

Early in my career, I was very closed to anything that might be considered ‘spiritual’. I was very skeptical if it did not have a factual basis that could be proven scientifically. I wanted hard evidence in order to believe anything. Today, I understand things differently, but it is interesting to me that science now shows us that our ‘physical’ reality is an illusion. In fact, some scientists are now considering and maybe even embracing the idea of multi-dimensional reality.

You ‘think’ that the chair you are sitting in, or the table next to you, or even the building that you are living in, is a hard, solid object, but it’s not. At the subatomic level, there’s almost nothing there. Everything is made of atoms. The only part of an atom that seems to resemble what we would think of as ‘solid’ is the nucleus, which is extremely small, compared to the entire atom. The structure of an atom, which is the basic building block of everything in our so-called ‘physical’ reality, includes this central nucleus that is surrounded by electrons. This nucleus has protons and neutrons, which are much larger and heavier than the orbiting electrons. But the size of the entire nucleus is much, much smaller than the entire size of the whole atom.

I think it is important for everyone to understand what we are made of. Over the years, I have tried to explain it, but many do not have a science background, and often I see their eyes begin to glaze over because of the technical details. So to help describe it, let’s try some life-size examples that you may be familiar with. For example, have you ever seen a football stadium? Have you ever been inside and experienced a game? Some major parks are very big and can hold thousands and thousands of fans. I attended the Georgia Institute of Technology for my education, but a side benefit was being a part of NCAA Division I Football games along with my classmates. As students, we were able to attend at no cost, if seats were available. Our stadium was huge, and some of the seats were very high up and far from the playing field. Often, ‘student seating’ put us in a place where we could not see much of the action, but we didn’t care. We were there for the fun, the excitement, and the drama that can only be experienced at a major college football game.

For this atomic comparison, imagine that a football stadium is an atom and that you are in the middle of the football field, which would be the center of the entire stadium structure. I realize that some have not been able to experience being there, but perhaps you have seen a large sporting event that was televised from such a venue? It could be any sport, large event, or even the Olympics. The concept is that you are within a facility that can hold very large number of people, maybe more than 50,000 fans. In your imagination, you are standing in a central location, and as you look at all the people, some of them are far away and look very small, especially those that might be sitting in the ‘nosebleed’ sections. Also, from their perspective, you would seem to be tiny.

Now, for our description of subatomic structure, let’s imagine that next to you, a small marble has been placed in the exact center of the field. If an atom could be enlarged to be the size of a football stadium, the nucleus of that atom would be about the size of the marble. The electrons are very, very tiny, compared to the nucleus (marble). They would be about the size of a very small ant. The electrons (ants) orbit the nucleus
