    DEDICATION

Although my name appears on the cover, this book is inspired by many authors who have gone before me.

Bob Proctor, author of You Were Born Rich, is forever in my thoughts. What I enjoyed about Bob’s book is its simplicity. Although I would struggle to match the power and message behind Bob’s book, in writing Springboard I have tried to emulate the simplicity. In so doing, I hope I’ve also delivered concepts you can easily employ in your life.

I dedicate this book to my children, Natasha, Rochelle, Jasmine, Mikaila, and Ryan.

I also dedicate this book to all who are ready. Go out and make it happen.

    Never look back.

    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

    INTRODUCTION

This is the greatest time ever to achieve exactly what you want in life, and yet so many people are locked in the battle to subsist; to earn just enough money to pay for the next week of their life and tread persistently on the treadmill that delivers no more or less than what they believe is their lot.

If you’re one of those people who’s able to relish your abundant life and free time, congratulations. You’re one of the lucky few. But if you’re one of those who’s struggling to make it all work, then this book just might save you.

No matter what you think, the possibility exists for you to march onto Success Street and have your dream life right now, but there are two things holding you back:

    1. What you tell yourself

    2. Your belief system

Here’s an example of how your belief system is keeping you from moving forward. Let’s say I told you that you could double your income by the end of the week. You would most certainly say, That’s not possible. Yet when faced with an urgent need to create a change, you will move heaven and earth without even thinking about it.

    How do I know?

Because you’ve already achieved massive changes due to going after a goal with nothing other than the belief you’d be successful. The most primary and primitive example is learning to walk. You were always going to walk. There was no fear. You had no doubts or inhibitions, and certainly no money. And yet, it happened.

Why? Because everyone believed in that possibility. Most of all, you.

Now, you may have trouble absorbing and believing that, because who was aware at that age, right? Then consider when you got your driver’s license. What was your thinking when you achieved this goal? Was there ever any doubt? Did you find the time? Did you find the money? Did you put in the effort to do what was absolutely needed to make that happen? I’ll bet you did. You can apply this to almost anything you’ve achieved in life, including receiving your diploma, finding your own place to live, or buying your first car.

As you look back, could you think of ways you might have accomplished your goals in a shorter period of time? If your answer is yes, I would encourage you to reflect on it and what this tells you about yourself.

How many more examples can you think of? There are many if you seek them out, but you take most of them for granted. You just accept them as normal. This is the process most people apply to accomplishments. They’re put away. Diminished in their feat to a subconscious, checked-off place. Been there and done it! Literally.

So how does this help you?

    Past Conditioning

Why are most people at this place in life where they want more but struggle to break the shackles and succumb to the mind-numbing grind of wake-work-eat-sleep, where the childlike energy to just go, be, and do is lost?

The simple answer is conditioning, which is more prominently visible in baby-boomers and Gen X-ers. It’s the by-product of a society that nurtured nine-to-five jobs, education that fed into this culture set, and preconditioned parents who insisted money was not in abundance, so trading time for money, and working hard for it, was the only way to live.

This way of thinking was heavily impacted by the industrial revolution. Without going into a history lesson, I’ll just say the modern world is bound to a system that evolved out of an industrialised society, where humans became a massive resource in a systemised way of life. Incredibly, that way of life delivered more wealth to the middle class than ever before, particularly in western countries. But it came at a psychological cost.

The good news is that it’s changing, and in ways that are awesome for today’s generations.

You might be asking what the industrial revolution has to do with you. The simple answer is that no matter who you are or what your upbringing, you’ve been brought up and nurtured in a culture set the world is only just waking up from.

It’s unfortunate that schools and systems are responding slowly. As I write this, I lament the conditioning brought about by teachers who were trained by educators from the twentieth century. The impact is still clear to understand and witness, once you know what you’re looking for. Even I catch myself imparting long-indoctrinated themes to my very own children without even realising it. God only knows what I didn’t filter adequately enough from my own upbringing and conditioning.

You’ve received years of programming that you need to identify within yourself, because it will be necessary for you to recognise and understand it in order to springboard into a new and fruitful world of freedom and abundance.

    The Information Era

What is apparent is that the world has turned a corner, and the keystone is the internet. Many people have become awakened to its powerful capacity to personally empower themselves with a smorgasbord of opportunities, methods, adventures, and ventures.

    Why? Because the internet is:

connected and helps you form connections

    a marketplace and information library

    local and reaches across borders

    specific and unlimited

gives everyone the information to realise something incredible…that they have what it takes to make it

You can access the information you need to create successful outcomes. It’s the first time in the history of humanity this has occurred. And it’s only been in the last twenty years, since the advent of the internet as a public domain play space, that everyone can access the necessary information quickly and relatively cost-free.

Yes, there’s nonsense on the internet, as well as scammers and all of the shady stuff you’ll find in real life. But just like in the physical world, you can choose where you source your information. And you can source exactly what you need, quickly and efficiently.

This helps you considerably, because you have a vast amount of resources at your fingertips. This means you can begin to move your comfort zone. Notice that I didn’t say go outside of your comfort zone. I will talk more about this later, because it’s a vitally important concept.

The key here is that you can now identify the processes and activities that will lift the skill sets you have to work on, so you can move the upper parameter of your comfort zone and lift your life results. Then you can begin to improve the habits that will allow you to keep moving the upper parameter to levels that will fit your real-life dreams.

And the beauty of all this is that it can be accomplished by the same process you used in school. Most likely your childhood experience of education, whether happy or unhappy, seems like a relatively easy process now. Learn, repeat, assess, and internalise should be a well-ingrained routine.

So let me assure you that you have what it takes, because the process is that simple.

    Beware the Comfort Trap

As it’s easy for modern technology to be your saviour, it can also trap you. The worst invention is something that’s been around since 1960s: television. The more modern version is internet streaming.

Assess your daily activity. Are you wasting away hours watching a show on some piece of technology? Have you made turning on a television or tablet a subconscious to-do item the minute you have some free time?

And then you sit down and do nothing productive at all, because the internet provides enough entertainment to allow you to stop being human. This includes streaming, gaming, news feeds, gambling, and social media.

Unless you get some control over it, this will kill you, physically, mentally, psychologically, and spiritually. It’s a trap. An addiction.

Don’t get me wrong here. I watch streamed movies, play Xbox, trade in online share marketplaces, and check my personal information feeds. But the key idea here is that it all forms a balanced diet of the stuff I like to do around what I need to do.

I’m sorry to say that spending every hour from the time you get home to the time you go to bed on Facebook or watching six episodes of your favourite TV show, will not deliver you to the good life.

    The Art of Productive Fulfilment

What should interest you is that living a fulfilled, good life will deliver you the opportunities to do more of what you like to do. You have freedom and choice in abundance. What’s even more interesting is that even with that freedom and abundance, most people will become less interested in time-wasting activities.

    Why is this?

Because everyone is inherently a child at heart who deep-down still likes to play amongst other human beings. With freedom of choice and access, you can pursue that which allows you to play more fully in the way you did as a child, with all of the resources you require.

And again, you have this within you.

It’s simply a matter of turning on the childlike wonder and can-do-will-do mentality that children have before the conditioning kicks in. Other than short-term tantrums about not getting something now, young children have the mentality that they can do anything without limitations.

And the truth is, there are
