To Merli.
We had but a short time together, but you’ll always be in my heart.
A Whisper
Amenhotep III put his finger to his lips to quieten his vizier, generals, and overseers. He moved as silently as a spider on its web as he glided towards his prey. Am I keeping you from your sleep, Kiya?
Amenhotep III whispered in the ear of his High Seer.
What?
Kiya said, jumping from her slumber. She shook her head to clear the clouds of confusion from her mind.
The pharaoh stood with his hands on his hips and his feet spread wide. He was always an imposing figure, but now, with his brow furrowed, he looked fearsome.
The affairs of our great Dominion aren’t enough to entertain my royal High Seer? I’m so sorry the management of our nation is so tedious. We beg your forgiveness. Do we not, gentlemen?
Amenhotep swept his arm around, gesturing at the gathering of the country’s governing body.
Oh, my!
Kiya said, aghast at her indiscretion. I pray for your forgiveness, my Lord Pharaoh. Gentlemen. T’was but a moment caused by the intrusion of visions upon my sleep, rather than any boredom. Truly, I value these meetings.
"Ah, my Kiya, caught in a lie. Even I," he said, pointing at his wide chest, don’t value these meetings as entertainment, but they are a necessary evil that comes with our duty. Still, I appreciate your honesty, my Omniscience, as always.
Amenhotep knelt and looked deep into Kiya’s eyes. Are the visions worthy of mention in this forum?
Kiya shook her head mutely and sighed. "I fear not, My Lord.
