    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

I extend my gratitude to Samuel Kuseka - artistic director of Kaphirintiya Advancement Theatre for introducing me to stage drama at an early age. While a member of his theatre company, I featured in The Rainmaker, a play by Steve Chimombo, one of the finest Malawian writers; Dunduzu Chisiza jr, a playwright and actor of all time. He was the pioneer of English drama in Malawi and artistic director of Wakhumbata Ensemble Theatre,. His inspiration made the playwright I am today.

I would also like to recognise the following people with whom I shared the stage in different plays during my secondary school years at Ntcheu Secondary School; Jacquiline Kantambe, Max Wengawenga, Chitsanzo Kamowatimwa, Noel Kuntambila, Ndidza Kamlopa, Stella Chifumbi, John Moyokunyenga, Chimwemwe Chongo, Bruno Silasi, Duncan Taipi and many others, too numerous to mention.

And lastly, the following teachers deserve special mention; Mr Steve Ligomeka, (English drama club) and Mr Macdonald Maluwaya (French drama club).
