Ethical Capitalism after Coronavirus? Future Scenarios and prospects - Giovanni Moccia

    PREFACE

    Pellezzano, December 15, 2020

Dear readers and very kind readers,

in these notes of mine I propose a reflection on what could happen in the economic field in the short and medium / long term both in Italy and in the globalized world following the crisis produced by the expansion of the coronavirus . S ulla wake of other publications already realized propose , in particular, a reflection on the dilemma of whether there may be ethics in capitalism especially after the economic crisis induced by Covid 19.

The analysis also passes through a reflection on the contribution of the Catholic Church for the definition of a new development model.

The business world must develop new answers to the problems that cross the planet: there will certainly be the quantitative dimension (the GDP necessary to avoid mass unemployment), a place will be occupied by the need for a new pact between public and private given the very robust injection of state money, some sectors - notably health and school - will no longer be mistreated as they had in the past and, finally, the green new deal dossier with all the (not easy) choices it entails will have to be resumed.

The change of course is not possible without a substantial commitment from businesses, banks and the educational world.

Meanwhile, a recent poll by LegaCoop and Swg tells us that 70% of Italians would favor the adoption of a more ethical and sustainable economic model , but unfortunately they are skeptical about the concrete feasibility.
