The basic story remains the same, but each storyteller adds their own style, sometimes adding something unique to the tale.

Chapter One: Gawain
On his way to Cavalon, Sir Gawain came across a troop of knights followed by a squire on foot, leading a Spanish charger. Around the neck of the horse hung a shield. It was one he didn’t recognise. Fearing he might be riding towards trouble, Gawain rode up to the squire. Slowing the pace of both the horse he rode and the one he led, to match that of the squire, he nodded towards the troop that had ridden by. Tell me, whose troop is that?
Sir, it’s the troop of Meliance of Lis, a brave knight.
Is he your knight?
The squire shook his head. No, Sir. My master is Teudaves. A knight equally as worthy.
I know Teudaves,
Gawain said. Where is he?
He’s gone ahead to a tourney, Sir. Meliance of Lis has undertaken a tourney against Thiebault of Tintagel. You should join Thiebault’s side, Sir.
He stared at the squire for a moment. Maybe the lad was mistaken. "Didn’t Thiebault raise Meliance
