About this ebook
A sequel to “The Last Journals” – Sarah, one of the twelve children takes upon herself to document the saga of Justin and Emily, and the coming-of-age of the entire family in a world empty of civilization and humanity. Sarah, now advanced with age has a memory as sharp as a twenty-year-old. She recounts the continuing story of the romance, humor, and escapades of the entire family. Justin and Emily and their six children encounter six orphan children in their travels. The two take in the new children, and together, the fourteen-member family tackles the empty world turned desolate by a virulent micro-organism and learns how to cope in a do-it-yourself scenario of survival─Because, after all, the Human Race must go on!

I am a retired Dentist and enjoy writing as a hobby─I write for the creative FUN of writing. Other hobbies include playing the clarinet, Soprano sax and Bongos, oil painting, photography, and graphite drawing. Story ideas may occur to me spontaneously, or just by looking at a picture when it evokes a story line in my mind, and I use it as a 'seed' to grow the story.I'm a 'romantic' at heart. Love runs deep in me, and have published several romances as a result (and usually fall in LOVE with my female protagonist) mixed in with some adventure stories, and stories for Young Adults.I have done a few things in my life to include, Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, Mountain Rappelling Instructor, clinical lab tech, read books on Sci and romances, and hold a license as a Ham Radio operator---all of which I assume, add to the repository from which I draw some of my story ideas. I grew up reading Mad Magazine which, I’m sure, affected (distorted?) my sense of humor as well as my perspective on life. I enjoy humor, and like to laugh.I'm am most assuredly an untrained amateur but nevertheless have published five small books on Amazon and twelve on Smashbooks.com under the name of R.H. Proenza if for nothing else but my ego. I live in Georgia with my wife Sandy, a computer or two, and no pets.

----- Sarah's Story -----
Chapter 1
Sarah Gray narrates:
------Where does one begin to tell THIS story? Do I start with a large military plane crashing into a mountain in a massive fireball that lit up the sky and witnessed by my parents? Or when ALL but a few humans mysteriously got wiped out of existence off the face of the earth? Or when two strangers─my parents─serendipitously found each other on a hike in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina and fell in love?
------ I'm the daughter of Justin and Emily Gray. These words were handed down to me─ to us ─by them, my loving parents. They recorded their thoughts and their experiences into notebooks, which they thought would be The Last Journals to be written to an empty world─one devoid of humanity.
But so much has happened since those two notebooks were first penned. Now (as I write this far into the future), I feel the need to add to the saga to continue our family history─for US if not for posterity. Now, I find myself in my nineties (I can hardly believe it). Yes, into my nineties, even though I don't look it (thanks to the so-called 'spooky dust’─more on that later), but my memory is still intact, and I can remember EVERY single detail like it was yesterday…

------I was only six years old when dad found and brought Benny Davis and his sister, Hope, to our homestead to meet my siblings: Lisa, Jared, Sybil, and Brian. I, Sarah, was born after Sybil. Chase, the proverbial 'caboose' to our long train, was still a baby bump inside mom who was about to give birth when Benny and Hope got here. What a shock for us to find out there were OTHER people alive in the world. After hearing all of the dreadful stories that mom and dad told us about how people just died and turned to dust, dad had actually found real survivors, not zombies like in so many twentieth-century grade-B videos from our library, but ordinary, well-behaved, rational people─Benny and Hope; two children!. What a wonderful surprise!
------Lisa was almost thirteen, long-haired and beautiful, and caught Benny's eye from the start. He was the same age. It was funny to watch their visible romantic interaction gradually develop over time (as if they could get away with such behavior!), each oblivious to the curious eyes of all others.
Hey, Lisa,
said Benny, "so, you have any,
