Rough Storm 2045 is a fictional account of a futuristic event. Real city names and streets were added for a realistic touch. People who presently live in these areas presented in the book should remember this is only fiction and not prophetic by any means-Author
INTRODUCTION
For some years Rough Storm 2045 remained lost. At that time, I developed the idea when floppy disks were popular. When our computer crashed and burned through several virus attacks my wife and I invested in a new computer; but the tech on floppies were out so I couldn’t transfer the data to our new computer.
When we changed addresses, I had lost the miniature box that contained those old floppies. I was heartbroken and vowed to revise the story. I knew if I rewrote the whole story it would change the entire story and not be Rough Storm 2045, so I languished in despair for the story that it would never be told.
2017 came after another address change and while throwing away old stuff I fell upon a box that looked familiar. To my surprise it was the floppies! I thanked God the story could be told in accuracy or close to the original intent.
I needed an expert to transfer my floppies to Word format and found Retro Floppy. They did an excellent job and their rates were reasonable. After only 2-3 weeks my work came on CD to be transferred to Word.
When I did the initial print of various chapters I knew the book needed a complete rewrite. Formerly 30 chapters and a slew of minor characters I condensed it down 25 chapters and I deleted a lot of minor characters to strengthen the main character’s stories.
I hope you the reader will enjoy this work as I enjoyed creating it.

EXTENDED GLOSSARY
Phaes=a planet over 300 light years from earth. Phaes continued through warfare and eventually found peace. Over 7 million of their species left the war-torn planet and came to earth, but earth’s gravitational pull and cataclysmic event destroyed 5 of their ships. Earthlings unfortunately saw their landing as a prelude to war and this caused the first phasee/human war.
Phasees=an alien species from Phaes.
Cataclysm=the turning of the earth’s axis due to pollutions that seeped into the grounds, waters, etc. The cataclysm wiped out 2/3 of the earth's population through earthquakes and tidal waves
The vanishers=flesh eating creatures from a distant star who came to earth in the nineteen-sixties to act as scientists. When one of their experiments killed a couple, they fled earth but returned later to stay and amalgamate with humans. The genetic combination of human and vanisher were named bolaris from Bolera a town in the Ozark region
Fumans=mixture of phasee and human genes. Fumans who had babies called them fus (pronounced foos
)
Rough Men =30 fumans placed in positions of power as future leaders worldwide. They were called rough men because of the harsh conditions they had to endure and remain focused on their purpose to keep the regions stabilized. Gradually many rough men died or were replaced by others.
The Ancients=2 phasees who were sent from Phaes as a compassionate mission to help the phasees on earth survive under harsh conditions. In time phasees were abandoned when the ancients in conflict with vanishers introduced fumans
as a new species. This started the bofu wars and phasee conflicts.
Bofu Wars= A series of wars and conflicts between the Bolaris Nation in Northern Hannibal and the fuman/phasee/human alliance in the west, south and east of Hannibal. The first bofu war was against Maurice in the east of Hannibal and the forces of Luther Reams. After the defeat of Luther, a series of conflicts raged on a smaller scale and this caused Hannibal to be unstable for years.
Phasee Conflicts= More a series of conflicts that raged in various places around the globe when the phasees knew the Ancients favored fumans over phasees in bringing balance to the planet. The phasee conflict never gained cohesion and could erupt through various phasee factions at any time.
FEATURES OF CERTAIN ALIENS
Phasee’s physical traits: enlarged head with strong neck muscles, most are tall in stature, at least six to seven feet tall, humanoid build; with all white or gray eyes. No pupils with excellent eyesight and superb memories. They also had two hearts, one smaller than the larger heart. This attributed to the heavy gravity on planet Phaes. Phasees on Phaes have been known to live up to 600 years. On Earth the average Phasee could live up to 100 years or more; but information was pending on how long phasees could survive on earth under favorable conditions.
Fuman’s physical traits: Fuman, a blend of human and phasee genes. Fumans averaged five to six feet in height and did resemble phasee features, but with smaller heads and neck muscles. Fuman’s immune systems were unstable due to the amalgamation and have been known to die suddenly from body illnesses like colds and the flu. Fumans were known to be more empathic than phasees who were more analytical and thus stronger mentally than fumans.
Bolaris’ physical traits: The bolaris (or bos for short) were hairy and resembled a handsome, intelligent gorilla with some of the body hairs. Many bos were tall, six to seven feet and had small faces, beady eyes and a muscular build. Their teeth resembled canine and their fingernails/toenails curved like claws if left uncut.

PROLOGUE
Hannibal, Mo was split four ways; north, south, east and west after a terrible war devastated the region. Tensions remained high as the rough men, anticipating another war with the Bolaris Nation gathered large and small missiles for a possible future conflagration, but the true enemy was inside themselves, hidden, dangerous, and volatile...
WHAT IS THE FORCE?
Article by Chandler Launa
UC Reporter
University City-Many people are stumped on the state of weather patterns lately. Too hot. Too cold. Do people not complain about anything that causes us discomfort? If we did not complain would we be considered normal?
Sometimes there is a force that brews and causes things to go awry. This force is not the original force of things, but a made-up caricature of the real. So, our lives are guided by the weather more than we would realize. I know, more than we would like to realize. When was the last time you walked out the door without checking how the weather patterns were going to be?
What if there was a nefarious force that tried to guide these patterns to control the world? Sounds bizarre? Stranger things have happened. If it rains, more crops, too much rain, more flood waters, just enough rain, good year for food. Not sounding so bizarre?
Enter the force.
A hidden project to control the masses, developed by those who wanted to control our lives, it was too bulky, unpredictable, it caused more trouble than it was worth. Scrap.
Or was it?
Something to think about.

Maurice was happy when he and Dee arrived in St. Louis because he could feel the sadness, remorse, and anxiety that played in her being. She oozed disturbance; but within all the emotional disruptions of Dee there shone a good heart filled with the hope of love, and this is what Maurice adored about her... (Lost/Found Book of Rough Men)
The shores of Hannibal were lined with six towers over 100 feet high, (Towers1-4) some even close to 200 feet (Tower5 & 6). Each tower was numbered to tell them apart. The first tower built in 2025 was named Tower1 and this was where Maurice and his crew resided, even though they were responsible for the remaining towers.
Maurice remembered these towers were placed in strategic places to observe for enemy incursions from the sea, but Maurice wondered if they were built strong enough to weather the coming storm?
He was advisor of a region that experienced two massive wars that left thousands of dead. He also had three (formerly four) female companions who honored him as their one male companion, but tensions began to rise as stress pressured Maurice to make snap judgements that left many dismayed at his next decision.
He knew that he was going through a change, but he was not sure how it would play out. He knew the change had something to do with responsibility and releasing power to others, so they could take on more and him less; but he knew it would not be an easy fight to give away something others did not want any parts of.
He felt he was going through a midlife crisis at the young age of 32. He felt a storm was coming, but within himself, but little did he know of the coming storm that raged outside.
As he raged inside Maurice was pleased about the Lost/Found Book of Rough Men. He wondered where all those stories came from. He could not place the author’s name, but Dee was not pleased her intimate feelings were displayed.
Soon found the book to be comical and sad at the same time. She kept asking how this writer became so accurate at their times and events and not be exposed.
I believe it was somebody we knew for years. Somebody who never said a thing about writing,
she said.
Or, somebody we never saw,
Maurice said.
Soon sneered at his words.
You’re not making any sense. How would they know all those things if they are not close by, watching...?
she asked.
You explained it better than I could,
Maurice said.
He noticed she had an electronic book on display. As he brushed past the screen it flickered and almost faded, then returned to its original position.
‘The Phasee Way of Life,’
by Johor Summers," Maurice read out loud.
Johor Summers is a leading expert on phasee life. He studied the Ancients and the reason phasees came to earth. There are even printed copies, and some are in audio versions,
she said.
I would like the printed copies for my night stand,
he said. I don’t know if I would read it though. He never went to Phaes and throughout his entire book he never mentioned the bolaris.
There are hardly any bos in Wisconsin where Johor resides,
she said.
He never stepped foot on Phaes,
Maurice said.
Critic!
Soon shouted.
Maurice bowed his head and snickered.
Solve the mystery writer thing first, now that is a story, then we can talk about this Johor guy,
Maurice said.
When Maurice left the room Soon felt uneasy in her king-sized bed with the puffy pillows. She laid there for a long time before she went to the window and peered into the night for writers who peered through bino eyes (advanced binoculars) in her window.
Since the disintegration of past governments names were changed in the issue of power. No longer were the name Presidents used for democratic governments, but Governors became Presidents of their region with no power beyond that region.
Since the former United States was broken into larger and smaller islands there were recorded over 118 Governors from New Jersey to parts of Nevada. With Mayors in positions where Governors formerly were there were recorded 395 Mayors across several smaller areas.
Many areas kept former laws and even gravitated to the Constitution in times of political upheaval; but overall were left by their own devices.

Leonard Hospital came into view, and they landed abruptly, which gave the car a jolt. As the bubble slowly rose, Maurice took Justin in both arms, and he concentrated until their bodies floated above the car. The others looked in amazement as Maurice glided their bodies down a nearby square, which acted as an opening... (Lost/Found Book of Rough Men)
Maurice was asked by Larry and Tristan to visit the weekend with them for a change. He had not seen them in over two years. Larry and Tristan worked the entire island and moved goods in and out efficiently and was paid handsomely for their services.
Maurice had been friends with them for over 10 years and missed their presence. This would be the opportune time he thought, to gather the kids and companions and fly up to Garyland (what used to be Gary, Indiana).
Indiana broke into several large islands after the Mississippi overflowed its banks in the cataclysms. The northern part of Indiana shifted hundreds of miles to the northern part of the United States.
Island States grew and retained their individual autonomy. Garyland became a strong presence a year after the cataclysms and grew to connect to other islands, some by long electronic bridges.
Maurice watched a brochure and observed the electronic bridges and the colorful air vehicles and smiled. He thought the idea was splendid. He knew he had to do some convincing when it came to his companions. Everything with them was a fight, even something positive and good as this.
When he made the announcement Soon was not sure about the idea and Dee was suspicious.
