Millenia after being driven from the cradle of Earth by a barely remembered cataclysm, humanity has found a new home in the galaxy called Frontier. On the second world of the Axind system, three inexperienced legions from the world-ship Bastion struggle to contain hordes of the savage Hir'nal, vile marauders that have harried humanity for millennia. The legions are well trained and eager, but that is not enough. The best they can manage is to hold the line and sell their lives dearly in the hope that help is coming. Should they fall, the Hir'nal infestation will spread far and wide, and countless lives will end because of it.

Despite the odds against them, all is not lost. Reinforcements have arrived in orbit, but the skies are occluded by an eternal storm, preventing any coordination with the beleaguered legions. In an effort to secure a landing zone, a single dropship has braved the ever-storm and emerged above a battlefield that is being overrun.
