About this ebook

At first, David and Evan found their silver lining in togetherness, but as the months wore on, it became easier to forget to pay attention, to forget the necessity of deliberate connection. David's seven-months-of-quarantine breakdown wasn't, as one might expect, about the outside world, but instead about loneliness even in partnership. David and Evan recommit to finding the silver that lines togetherness; coming to each other with love and intent over, and over, and over again.

    David would never say quarantine

had been exciting at first. Still, there was a marked difference in the way he and Evan had weathered those first weeks compared to the past few months.

Nothing about the uncertainty of the world falling apart, the deluge of bad news, or the isolation from friends and family were remotely good. Any good he could find, any silver lining, came in the togetherness where he and Evan took shelter. A very real sense of us against the world cradled them in those first few weeks. Everyone always said they were disgustingly well-paired, but what everyone saw were the big things, the couple’s public-facing compatibilities. Home, the home they made, meant love expressed in small gestures. A glass of water and a small snack; dimmed lights and an offer of help when David was depressed and struggled to get out of bed.
