      Trust can hurt you.

      The words echoed out of her mouth, hanging in the air as the silence in the room grew long. Eyes, both watchful and unblinking, were all on her, and it didn’t make her want to turn away or walk out. In fact, the statement caused her to raise her head, straighten her back and watch the group as intently as they did her. She came to accept that truth long ago, even though most people disagreed with her.
