I will first thank God for allowing the existence of humanity. For it is my opinion He certainly does not need us for His existence.

It has always been in his power to give.

He caused the Great Conversion of Energy (Big Bang) which created this dimension ( the separation between heaven and the physical universe). From physical properties came Stars, Galaxies, Solar systems, Planets, and Life.

He gave humanity a biological machine for our spirit to live within.

He gave us an intelligent brain and the emotions of love and compassion that took us beyond the instinct for survival. It is my opinion that without this combination, creativity would not be possible. 

I thank my family, especially my wife Sharon, for their help, patients and support.   

I am thankful to have many spiritual brothers and sisters who have given me encouragement to follow through with this book.

I am especially thankful to my friend George Brooks for his patients, guidance and contributions to this book.

God is like a spiritual river for those who believe in him. When we are feeling down we may go to that spiritual river through prayer to refresh ourselves. It is your choice.

PROLOGUE

Imagine you have hung a painting in your home that has many hidden objects, animals, and faces.  Now imagine focusing your attention on finding all of them. You will probably find some in your first attempt. If you come back to it at a later time you will undoubtedly find other ones you did not notice before. If the artist was very clever, it may take years for you to find them all. Everybody has their unique way of observing their place in the universe. Therefore we will all find what is hidden in plain sight in our own sequence and time.

I hope your experience with this book is like an elaborate painting, where you will continue to discover new truths emerging from the thoughts and ideas that are triggered by these words and sentences woven together in this book.  It is my hope for this book, as with a good painting, that your perception of its content will continue to grow over time.

PREFACE

Throughout history there has been human conflict regarding how to best reach out to the unseen forces of the Divine. For thousands of years our ancestors travelled around the world, and as they moved and became separated by great distances, they developed distinctly different cultures and religions. 

Over time people of different cultures began to encounter each other, perhaps at first through trade.  Naturally, the religion of one group would come into conflict with the religions of other groups.  These religious conflicts frequently led to war.

There are now hundreds of religions and thousands of denominations around the world.  At the same time, there have never been so many educated people.  Paradoxically, education does not seem to bring humanity closer to agreeing on what, or who, God is.  Education does not seem to help us agree on which rules we all should follow, or how we might best communicate with God.  Frankly, we are no closer now than our ancestors were at the time of the first religious conflicts.  It seems that even with all our high-tech education, humanity is still blinded by the rising up of religious dogma that separates us - - rather than unites us.

It is my hope this book will help forge a new relationship to the Divine energies that in reality unite us with God’s universe - - to connect the reader to the energy and matter that make up the human body, and to God’s rule over physical properties that enables the continued existence of the Universe. If you agree that these biological machines in which we live are comprised of the energy and matter of the Universe, then it is hoped that you will come to the understanding that emotions that were built into us are founded on this very same Divine energy established at the very foundation of the Cosmos.

The emotions, combined with our intellect, inspired our earliest ancestors to begin their search for a way to contact and communicate with the Divine - - to discover the rules that govern creation.  What might have been seen by early civilizations as religious magic is more likely seen today as natural law.  The Divine laws of nature have made it possible for the most complicated machine ever created to appear on the mortal scene: humanity.

It is unlikely that emotions will ever be installed into the artificial intelligence of a computer. Our human emotional connection to each other, and to the Architect of the Universe, is intangible and thus difficult to understand and study. It is my hope that this book will bring readers closer together by inspiring in us the realization that in our shared experience and feelings in this Universe, we can see that we are equally connected to THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE.

This book is an attempt to escape religious dogma, and to provide a logical path for exploring the emotional side of our mental existence in a long and fruitful path of enlightenment.

1:  A BEGINNING:  ATHEISM vs. THEISM

This book was written almost as much for the Atheist as for the Fundamentalist.  This somewhat unusual goal is a necessary one.  For both Fundamentalists and the Atheists approach the issue of Faith and Religion with a fairly narrow view of what is a valid way to engage the Universe.  Each uses just a few guiding principles to guide all his or her views of the world, life and even the Universe.

THE ATHEISTS:

Let’s discuss Atheists first.  There are fewer Atheists than Fundamentalists. If you are an Atheist, you believe that evidence alone should be the touchstone of what a person should believe about such things as God or the Afterlife.  As we might surmise from our casual exposure to newspapers, magazines and internet articles, Atheists believe they are justified in their belief that God does not exist because they perceive no concrete evidence for God’s existence.

And yet there are so many other things that the average Atheist still takes on faith - - without evidence or even in the face of opposing evidence.  Many an Atheist conducts his affairs in a moral or ethical manner, without really attempting to challenge why he or she does so.  He can see that bad people frequently prosper or evade punishment.  And yet he stalwartly maintains that he (or his children) should avoid unethical behavior.  When asked why, many an Atheist parent becomes a noticeably uncomfortable.  It is difficult to explain for some.

Many Atheists don’t believe in God, but still believe in an Afterlife.  And yet, arguably, the concrete evidence for either is equally scant.

There are a few good reasons not to be an Atheist.  Firstly, it really isn’t practical to attempt to marshal evidence for one’s every decision and belief.  For example, if you were to enter an empty office building late at night
