    Dedication

The West Memphis Boogieman is dedicated to Damien Echols, who wisely said…

"I knew from when I was real small people were gonna know who I was, I always had that feeling...I just never knew how they were gonna learn.  I kind of enjoy it now because even after I die, people are gonna remember me forever.  People are gonna talk about me for years.  People in West Memphis will tell their kids stories...It'll be sorta like I'm the West Memphis boogie man. Little kids will be looking under their beds…Damien might be under there!"  Damien Wayne Echols in Paradise Lost - Clue 1

The truth is not for everyone, it is only for those who seek it.  Ayn Rand

    About this Book

The West Memphis Boogieman is about justice for three innocent young boys and for their convicted killers. In addition, it looks at celebrity intervention in justice.

The school day is over for three 8-year-old second graders and after checking in at home the three friends get together for bicycle riding.  About 6 pm, Mrs. Dana Moore sees her son Michael with two friends, Steve Branch and Christopher Byers, riding bikes in the neighborhood.  After searching the area until 7:00 pm, the worried parents report the missing boys to the police.  Families, friends and police search most of the night but find no sign until the next afternoon when the bodies are found in nearby woods.

Three troubled teen age boys were arrested, tried and convicted.  One of the convicted confessed that he watched and helped his two friends commit the murders, named the killers, and told in detail how and why they killed the cub scouts.  All would later claim innocence but the witness confessed many times that he saw the murders happen.  Not one suspect ever gave a believable alibi.

The folks in West Memphis were satisfied that justice had been served.  The killers were in prison for life or death and there were no more little boys being savagely killed in their small town.

This story, however, was only beginning.  Two years after the trials a subjective HBO documentary about the crime led viewers to believe that the convicted murderers were innocent.  Celebrities saw that money needed to be collected and biased films needed to be made to convince the public that the convicted were just misunderstood teens that must be released from prison.

The West Memphis Boogieman is for people seeking the truth in this crime and for supporters who have seen only subjective movies and are confused about what is true.  The 87 clues in The West Memphis Boogieman show who killed the innocent boys in Robin Hood woods on May 5, 1993.    Anyone wishing to know the results that were found from those clues, facts and evidence may wish to go directly to pages 61to 65.

    Last Seen Alive

2:45 pm:  Pamela Hobbs picked up her son, Steven Branch, early from Weaver Elementary School.  She arrived home with Stevie just before 3:00 pm.

3:00 pm (shortly after): Michael Moore drops by Branch’s house to see if Steve can play.  Pam told Steve to be home by 4:30.

Around 5:30, John Mark Byers left his house with instructions to his stepson, Christopher to clean the carport.  When he returned about 6:30 he did not see Christopher and began looking for him.

6:00 pm:  Diana Dana Moore last saw her son James Michael Moore riding bicycles in the neighborhood with friends Steve Branch and Christopher Byers on the back of Steven’s bike.  She described Michael as 4' tall, 60 lbs, with brown hair and blue eyes.  He was wearing his Boy Scout uniform and riding on his 20" black Renegade bicycle.

Witness Tells His Friend they Killed some Boys

1993, May 6, Thursday, the morning after the murders

Buddy Lucas (age18), a neighbor of Jessie Misskelley Jr. (17), had come over to Jessie’s house the night before to share bar-b-q ribs fresh off the grill.  Jessie wasn’t home so Buddy left the ribs with his dad.  The next morning, after the murders and before the bodies were found, Buddy stopped by Jessie’s house to see if he got the ribs.  During the conversations that morning Jessie began tearing and told Buddy that he, Damien (Echols) and Jason (Baldwin) got into a fight last night.  Buddy asked, Why didn’t you all come and get me?  Then he asked if Damien and Jason helped you?  Jessie said yeah, so I said
