    Dedication

To my family and friends who never wondered about my leanings toward the macabre (at least not out loud) and especially my mom who lent me her vast medical knowledge without question.

    Acknowledgements

I would like to thank my creative writing course teacher for giving me the motivation to improve my horror writing skills, and my family and friends, without whose help this book would never have been completed.

Thank you for your patience and guidance, your helpful criticism...

    Preface

This story started off as a list of rogue ideas and simply jot notes back in 2013. It began as a short description of the last row house on a street of modern houses, inhabited by a strange group of people. And then a certain international creative project came up. I was so determined to finish; as I had entered before and missed my mark-twice.  Safe to say I wasn’t going to let that happen. I wrote whenever I could and on whatever I found-post-its, loose leaf and even napkins. To be honest, I’m not quite sure how it came to be this, but I will say I am really proud of it, and I hope you, the reader enjoys it.

    Introduction

The Fix It Man wasn’t always the Fix It Man of course.

He once was a normal man who had dreams of marrying his girlfriend and perhaps settling down and having a family. However, it was always shadowed by his obsession to make the perfect being. He believed that with the perfect balance of machinery and organics, he could make a human that would never age, and never get sick. Naturally, this idea caused him to become alienated from other academics of that age, and his girlfriend Elizabeth left him, though they continued to send correspondence back and forth until her death.

Yet he was undeterred. No longer welcome in the home he shared; he found his sanctuary in old abandoned buildings in the country, though hospitals always had what he needed. In was in one such building where he created his first child, once a victim of a car accident. His first success clouding his mind, he dubbed himself the Fix It Man, he was determined to create a family that he felt he had been so wrongly cheated out of. And so they began, producing a second success, yet another victim of a violent crime. It was to be the final success of his sick experiments. After all, it was only a matter of time before his messing about people as if they were dolls would end up bringing him nothing but misfortune, although he had yet to know…

    The Forgotten Legacy

    Chapter 1: The Escape

All it takes is a tiny spark and life as they know it is destroyed in an instant. The interior, mostly untouched for decades and covered in inches of dust is like a wick to the spark and the foyer of the old hospital is engulfed in a roar of flame. It spreads across the old varnished wood
