The purpose of this book:
I expect the open hearts, friendship, and respect of my readers. Their open hearts, to give me an honest listen;
Their respect, should they find I have more purpose than flaws;
And their friendship, should they find me worthy of it.
My growth and content of character are of regal substance and transcend the ordinary world;
My errors were errors of pain and youth.
My deepest apologies to anyone I may have ever offended.

Introduction
My time in this prison building has served a great purpose, for I have learned about others as well as myself. Never would I have imagined I’d be given such a gift in the form of oppression, or that the pains of my confinement would give birth to such profound inspiration. It is here that I have learned the meaning of the phrase, God chastises the ones he loves.
Before my incarceration, I had traveled all around the world, to Amsterdam, to the U.K. Still, it was here that I was forced to face myself and examine my flaws. It is in this dark place that I found light and reformed my way of thinking.
Through the Lost Writings of Vernon Nelson, I share with you these intimate chapters from my journey in the hope that it doesn’t take you coming here before you meet change. However, in the event you do, remember this one thing: Suffering is all a part of the Great Awakening.
Time and Space are an illusion. Even this very moment is an illusion. For in this very second, you are here, with me, as I write this and you are receiving distant thoughts from the inner mystery of the Universal Mind. But only for as long as the flame burns with your desire to discover the mysterious something that makes sense to life.
To unlock the doors of knowledge you’ve kept closed… To offer you a greater sense of self, and God willing, ignite the divine spark that leads to your spiritual awakening.
This is my mission.
As is often the case when Truth is present, throughout your reading, you may experience great distraction from outer forces. These will most likely come from people the Enemy uses to hinder you from fully receiving this message; to keep you asleep – the state of mind that has brought you more sorrow than joy. This is the nature of spiritual warfare happening in the world today. This is how it works. For someone takes the time to bestow precious knowledge upon you, only for someone else to attempt to silence the messenger.
I sometimes wish that I did not have to suffer to know Truth and the imperative of sharing that Truth with you. I understand that all this may be easier for you to digest if I were wearing, say, the robes of a monk or the shiny suit of a preacher. Still, you would be unwise to underestimate what I am about to tell you. For Truth knows no outward appearance. I am a man, and Light did come to me in my darkest hour, and this, dear Reader, is the nature of Man. We often cannot see the value of darkness until we are locked in a den of chaos for which silence is our only refuge. It is what it is. All things happen in their rightful time and place.
Now that you’re aware of what is to come, I ask that you fasten your seat belt and strap on your spiritual armor, for this journey of both timeless and endless.
Chapter 1
Time Traveling
I closed my eyes and concentrated on the sound of each breath I took. Listening carefully to the distinguished rhythm within me; each breath deeper and more elusive than the last. The more relaxed I became, the noise from inmates began to fade in the distance. Several minutes went by as I lay still on the bottom bunk of my prison cell.
It was late and different, I told myself. Twelve-thirty-something a.m. But that was then. For I had been lying still so long that present time had become a mystery. I had just finished saying my prayers when I started paying attention to how quiet it was…. too quiet, I thought.
My cellmate’s snoring usually had me tapping the bottom of his bed, so I could get him to shift and finally catch some sleep myself. But not this night. This night was different. The quiet was total and the silence was piercing. As the moments went on, I could feel my body relaxing. Too much, I thought.
It was as if life itself was slowly leaving my body. I tried desperately to panic, to muster up any strength I had to come up from out of wherever or whatever had its hold on me. But
