Preface
There once was a king, he was friendly but some thought he was very naive. He only saw the good in people and felt everyone deserved a second chance. But this was also his greatest weakness. A former queen lurked in the shadows, ready to take power again. When she married the king, Larendriel was never the same. Darkness swept through the land and the darkness remained for a long time. It didn't seem to have an end. But the Goddess Vida gave a prophecy that made things much worse and it was known then the King of Larendriel didn't stand a chance. Children would sing songs of the evil Queen and the kind King. Others wrote poems.
Kind King Argusta was love by his people,
Married an Evil bitch,
Her evil spread across Larendriel,
The Queen murdered our King with a black arrow,
It pierced his heart and killed our once great King.
Now we all feel the wrath of The Evil Bitch,
This poem was written by a man who feared his life would be in danger if he wrote his name to it. So the poet remained nameless.
Another poet wrote this after the death of The Queen. He also did not sign his name. The reason is at the end.
We once had a King kind, gentle and true,
He wed an evil Immortal Queen,
Darkness spread Across Larendriel
People feared The Queen,
The King was loved,
One day an arrow black as night struck The Kings heart,
Now we live in fear of The Evil Queen,
People prayed to the Gods and asked them to save them.
One of The Gods answered the pleas of the people,
The Queen was struck by the same arrow that killed our King,
Daeheart the God of Darkness killed The Evil Queen,
Daeheart called forth his followers and took her body,
He made it so she could never rest in peace,
Never ending torments now plague The Evil Queen.
Daeheart has saved us pay him tribute.
But I am getting ahead of myself; that comes later in the story. Let us start from the beginning and with the king.
King Argusta was a kind and gentle soul who believed that even the most evil person could change. Some saw it as weakness and they feared attacks from surrounding Provinces. However, Argusta’s kind nature never got in the way of running his Kingdom. The Province of Larendriel was the second biggest kingdom in all of Frell. It is only seconded to Kandrakar.
Frell was divided into different provinces; some were at war with each other. But the Kingdom of Larendriel was strong and true. The King at that time of Daeheart’s first attack was King Raylond. King Raylond fought Daeheart for ten years he then killed by Daeheart’s high priest Warren Naves. Warren cut out Raylond’s heart and presented to Daeheart as a gift.
The war was not over yet for Raylond’s son Argusta had joined the fray. Only he did not come alone for his first act as king. He brought all the kingdoms together to try to solve their problems with words instead of swords. He brought Frell back together. Then he led them to war against Daeheart. After two years of fighting Daeheart finally pulled back his advance, it was never clear why he did this.
Argusta returned to Castle Town where he restored Larendriel to its former glory. He became quite lonely when his younger brother Bayod married and started a family. After his sister in-law became pregnant with their first child did he realize he may never find anyone to live out his life with.
Bayod and Téa gave birth to a healthy baby girl which they named Lily. When Lily was three years old Argusta found his wife. She was enchanting and quite loving. Argusta didn’t see her dark side though he knew everyone had one but he seemed blind when it came to hers. Bayod and Téa announced they were having a second child. Argusta congratulated them because they wanted a large family.
When Cole was born something went horribly wrong. While Téa was giving birth the child would not come out. Finally a priest of Kindola cut the child out. An hour later Téa died but not after the priest did all he could to try and save her. Bayod blamed Sable. But Argusta didn’t see how she had anything to do with it. After that Bayod kept his children away from Sable as much as possible.
Three years after Cole was born Sable gave birth to Darrien. Argusta was quite proud when he introduced his new born son to all of Castle Town. Bayod came to congratulated him but he fell ill shortly after arriving. He left quickly his children following after. Argusta saw almost nothing of his brother since he married Sable. He spent most of his time in Valkyrie. Bayod heath did not improve after two years of illness he died leaving behind a ten year old daughter and a six year old son. Due to their young ages they were to return to Castle Town however Lily outright refused to return some say she almost never left the temple of the Divines. Cole on the other hand had no choice for his father’s duties fell upon him.
Argusta was pleased when Cole returned even though Cole was not. He got close to his cousin and his best friend who was the oldest son of Gabon Frost.
When Darrien turned five he was walking through the courtyard with his father and Cole. One moment Argusta was standing next to them and the next he was on the ground dead with a black arrow sticking out of his chest. Three years later Cole left out of fear for his own life when he overheard Sable talking to someone about killing him as well as his sister. Cole went north to make sure she was alright. She was now almost sixteen Cole gave her permission to marry the oldest prince who she had fallen in love with. Leaving after the wedding That Sable refused to allow Darrien to attend. Five years and almost four children later Prince Caster heir to the thrown was killed in the same manner as Argusta. Lily terrified for her own life as well as her children didn’t the temple until they were given safe passage to Nordkah.
Cole hearing this returned Valkyrie to find out what had happened. Everyone he talked to said one moment he was fine then he stepped in front of Lily and the next he was dead. Cole knew then that Lily had been the target and didn’t blame her for running to another continent because he had done the same.
In Nordkah Lily tired of running and hiding went to the temple of Daeheart and offered herself to him and in return all he would have to do was kill Sable. Daeheart accepted this offer. Lily waited until news about Sables death was sent by Darrien before she walked into the temple of Daeheart and never came back out.
Cole heard what his sister done and tried to get her back but Daeheart refused everything he offered him even putting him in her place. Cole hated himself for allowing Lily to do such a thing or her feeling like she had no other choice. The King of Nordkah said his grate grandchildren were more than welcome to stay with him. He gave him Lily’s journal hoping it would put his mind at ease.
Lily had written him a letter it read
Dear Cole,
If you are reading this it means Daeheart has accepted my offering to him. I don’t know if he will want me as a mortal or just my soul. You must not blame yourself I am the eldest and I can make these decisions. I can’t run anymore or hide I don’t want to either. When Caster was murdered I knew the arrow was meant for me or my children. I won’t let them live in fear anymore.
No one but King Ral knows of what I am going to do. I want you to tell Darrien I died of illness. I don’t want him to hate me for wanting her dead for everything that she’s done. She killed mother, father and uncle Argusta now she killed the love of my life. I won’t let her come after you or my children.
Go marry the girl of your dreams have a family of your own. Please don’t be mad at me. I saw no other way.
I love with all of my heart
Love Always
Lily Tarmrain-Volarin
Cole didn’t know what to do. Did he mourn his sister like she were dead or did he just never see her again. He sent a letter to Darrien telling him Lily died of illness after she made it to Nordkah. He made it know she was running form Sable. He made sure Darrien never found out what Lily had done. Cole then went to Faidlus got Alana and went to Inkanna.
Not much is known about The Queen. What is known is The Queen she only loved the king, but for those who crossed her, the price— their lives. She was only queen in her kingdom until her nephew was old enough to take power. When he, he stripped her of everything; she had nothing. Therefore, she went elsewhere seeking the power she once tasted. It brought her to King Argusta who was seeking a wife. A month later they were married. The people feared her and they were right to. A year later they had a son, Prince Darrian. The King attempted to make him in his image. But not long after the prince turned five King Argusta died from an arrow to the chest. Though many thought the queen was the one who ordered it, what followed after made some people change their minds?
Daeheart killed my mother for unknown reasons, yet his darkness still lingers here in Larendriel. One day I will find out why.
If you have not guessed yet, I am Prince Darrian, son of Argusta and Queen Sable. My father brought our world back together, but all good things must end — or so I am told. This is the beginning of my story...
Chapter One
A door began to rise up from the ground. The grass began to turn black and blood started to drip from the larger plants nearby. Children were playing in the area they stood there watching the door rise from the ground.
Some of the children backed away one ran away, leaving three boys and one girl.
The door stopped it towered over the children. The door began to glow as a purple vail covered it.
What is that?
asked the girl.
There’s someone in there
said one of the boys stepping closer.

said the boy closet to him Monna, no.
The figure stepped out of the door.
Fear over took the boys and they ran away from the door.
Hello
said Monna.
Are you not afraid
asked the figure
I’m not a coward like them
said Monna Who are you?
A shadow grabbed the girl by throat and raised her to his eyes.
Are you afraid now?
asked the figure.
Yes
said Monna her voice breaking.
Good
said the figure putting his hand around her throat You should be.
Monna screamed in horror and pain as the shadow engulfed her.
No
yelled a woman Monna, murder.
The shadow grabbed her as well.
I am Daeheart
said The Figure Don’t mistake me for a common murder. I am The God of Darkness.
The woman screamed as the shadow engulfed her
