REALITY AND PHILOSOPHY
Philosophy is defined as the search for truth. We have been searching throughout the ages, ever since we could think rationally. Why has it taken so long?
A problem is that people have been exploring with human senses. We have been reasoning with human intellect. We have studied our surroundings through a human perspective.
Humans do not perceive reality correctly. Sensation is converted to biological electrical impulses. Those impulses get sorted and interpreted, and interpolated, by the brain.
We have been using a distorted process of abstract thinking. The conscious thought process expresses ideas in words. Then those words are manipulated, as if they were the real thing. Reasoning is skewed by misinformation, belief, emotions, assumptions, and popular opinion.
The Empiricism movement took a major stab at truth. New ways of thinking were being tried during the Renaissance. Human thought itself was being examined.
Philosophers then were hampered by the strong religious influences of the time. The starting assumptions of their arguments included beliefs. Their flawed logic included the assumption that there was an external driving force to everything in the universe. That driving force was seen as being external also to all human thought. Thus all human thought was deemed in essence to be empirically driven. They ended up declaring the imaginary as originating from reality. The formal study of truth was turned around backwards.
Empiricism is a foundation of the biological thought process. We react and survive in a sea of sensation. We still continue to think with that process.
Now add on top of that the abstract conscious thought process we recently developed. Electrical thought impulses coalesce into patterns. Those patterns are interpreted as concepts represented by words. Words are converted back into real form as symbols or noises.
The ink on paper and the vibrating air molecules are real. The concepts and information remain abstract and imaginary however. There is nothing tying those patterns of change internal to the brain with external reality. There is nothing tying those patterns with patterns of existence.
The electrical impulses comprising the imaginary abstract are processed the same as those from external stimulation. Reality and imaginary are scrambled together in a heterogeneous mixture. The imaginary naturally becomes a part of our environment, along with rocks and trees.
Philosophers have turned out to be only human. The outcome of all their work so far is the overall opinion that philosophy is just a bunch of old men spewing opinions.
Now the search for truth is over. That quest, by billions of people, over millennia, to find that mysterious answer, is finally at an end. Here is the solution:
Truth is just a word.
Truth is just another abstract concept, expressed in particular grunts or squiggles. Truth is an important word though. Truth is a description of the logical status of other words. Truth is not some mysterious force, for justice or peace. Truth is not some feeling of enlightenment, conveyed by something hidden. Truth is not about determining which beliefs are right. Truth is right here, all around us, in plain sight.
Truth is defined with only five other words:
conformance with fact or actuality
Fact is just previously known truth, expressed in words. Actuality is the way things actually are in the universe. Conformance means that a comparison must be made. Abstract words must be compared with empirical reality. They must match, if words are to be called truth. Truth is that small portion of human thought, expressed in words, that has been compared with reality, and has been found to conform.
Words are compared with tangible physical substance. The proof is in hand, along with the words. There can be no denial while staring at the evidence in your hands. There is a one to one correlation between the words and the reality. There is only one direct logical step to take, to only one conclusion. Words that correctly describe reality are true. The same logical process can be used with any portion of the universe. It doesn’t matter what portion is used. Any old rock can be used to bash some sense into your head.
Now perform one more logical addition step. Add up all of the evidence. Gather up everything in one big jumbled heap in your arms as evidence. The biggest clump is the whole universe. The whole of the evidence is the whole universe. Every tiny iota of the universe is evidence of reality. The whole universe is evident. The whole universe is true. The whole universe is correct.
Reality itself is correct.
Reality is inviolate.
There is nothing wrong with the universe.
There is nothing missing.
The universe is complete.
There is nothing out of place.
There is nothing extra that shouldn’t be here.
There is nothing in two places at the same time.
There is nothing illogical in the universe. There is nothing that could make a contradiction. The logic of the universe is part of reality, and is inescapable.
Everything has to remain correct throughout the passage of time. Existence, the changing of reality (differential reality), is correct and always will be. Everything happens as it should. All is right in the universe.
All is as it should be.
The false cannot be in the universe. There is no place for it. The whole universe is packed completely full of truth. The false cannot exist. The imaginary cannot be. The source of untruth, of lies, of illogic, of contradictions, and of fantasy must not be of the universe.
The only source of the false must be the imaginary. The only source of the false must be the imagination. The abstract must be the culprit. The abstract thought process of the human imagination is at fault. Everything that is wrong has come from the thoughts and words of humans. The only place where the false can be found is in the
