    Chapter One:

    Blesk’s Earliest Visitors

The Nexus of Reality is a multiverse that is an infinite, empty void, except for one of its regions- called the Cosmic Centre- that has the landmark feature of a giant, glowing, immobile hand, with its fingers outstretched towards several small, glowing spherical universes that are all in orbit above the hand.

Inside one of these universes- a universe called Eltaa- a seven-foot, humanoid, dressed in bright, colourful armour, with a helmet covering his face, was piloting his spacecraft across the cosmos at great speed. His name was Grenvarr, and he was a representative of the Woken race, from the planet Sharnos. At that moment, he was on a solo journey, far from his homeworld, in search of new worlds and species to catalogue across the universe. He would then input the molecular data of newly discovered organisms into his ten-foot, capsular machine called the Evolution Accelerator.

After cataloguing life on the worlds Vecna 9, Reemlos, and Maltrove IV, Grenvarr had, at that moment, reached the Gelethgon Galaxy, and, in particular, the planet Blesk, which orbited the star Janusum. As soon as Grenvarr had reached Blesk’s atmosphere, he pressed a button on his spaceship’s controls, causing a satellite to suddenly become detached from the spaceship’s hull, and orbit Blesk, in order to gather the meteorological information of that planet.

Meanwhile, Grenvarr continued to pilot his spaceship down across the sky, towards Blesk’s surface. As the spaceship slowly descended onto one of the beaches of this lush, prehistoric world, its telescopic lander legs suddenly extended from the base of the spaceship and gently landed on the soft, golden sand of the beach. Shortly afterwards, a door on the spaceship’s hull had lifted open, and a runway had suddenly extended from the doorway onto the beach. Moments later, Grenvarr walked down the runway, carrying the Evolution Accelerator on his shoulder; and once he had stepped foot on the beach, he placed the Evolution Accelerator on the sand, and suddenly flew up into the sky- with the aid of his gravity boots- in order to begin cataloguing all of the creatures on Blesk.

As Grenvarr flew across the sky, he suddenly swooped down into an ocean, and cruised underwater to the nearest marine creature- a double-bell jellyfish, with two pulsating bells on either side of its body. He then pointed his forearm at the double-bell jellyfish, and, suddenly a ring of red lights shot out from the portable computer on his forearm and alighted onto the jellyfish to scan it. After the scan was complete, ten seconds later, Grenvarr pressed a button on the computer that then caused the lights to disappear. He then swam away from the double-bell jellyfish, in search of more organisms to scan.

Half an hour later, Grenvarr had arrived at the largest hot desert on Blesk- the Vleenha desert. At that moment, a spindle-back centipede- named as such because of the long, thin rods that line across the organism’s back- was crawling along the hot desert sand. After Grenvarr had landed next to the spindle-back, he knelt down, pointed his forearm computer at the organism, and scanned it for ten seconds. He then flew back across the sky on search of more organisms to scan.

Twenty minutes later, Grenvarr was flying across an open savannah, where a family of skantosaurs were roaming the plains. Skantosaurs were sauropods that each had the distinctive feature of a long, thick, ring-shaped bone around their head. Just then, Grenvarr swooped down to the family of skantosaurs and, whilst hovering behind the youngest one, unnoticed, pointed his forearm computer at it and scanned the creature for ten seconds. Afterwards, he flew away from the family of skantosaurs, in search of more organisms to scan.

Two hours later, Grenvarr had arrived back at the beach, where his spaceship was parked. After flying down and landing next to his Evolution Accelerator, he held his forearm computer in front of the Evolution Accelerator’s control panel- on the front of the capsule- and wirelessly transferred all of the molecular data of the organisms that he had scanned that day into the Evolution Accelerator’s computer database. Once the upload was complete, Grenvarr flew away from the beach and searched for more organisms to catalogue.

The next day, Grenvarr was scanning a small, bright yellow frog in a dense, tropical rainforest when, suddenly, his forearm computer began to beep and flash red- informing him that his orbiting satellite had malfunctioned. Immediately, Grenvarr flew out of the rainforest and arrived back at the beach, where his spaceship was parked. After he had flown into the spaceship, it took off, soon afterwards, and headed back into space, whilst his Evolution Accelerator was left behind on the beach.

Twenty minutes later, whilst Grenvarr's spaceship was approaching the orbiting satellite in Blesk's atmosphere, he looked down at his ship’s controls and saw a flashing red light on one of the panels- indicating that his spaceship was experiencing an engine failure. Before he had time to react, suddenly, the entire ship had exploded, killing him instantly.

Meanwhile, in another universe- called Einco- within the Nexus of Reality, two rival factions, the Mayzarns and the Detarks, were onboard their respective orbital space stations, each creating the ultimate weapon to pit against one another. At that moment, the door of the Detark’s space station had opened, and out of it flew their latest creation: a destructive cloud of energy- codenamed ‘XN-12’- that was humanoid in shape and blue in colour. Seconds later, the door to the Mayzarn’s orbiting space station had opened, and out of it flew their ultimate weapon: another conscious cloud of energy of humanoid shape- this time green in colour- codenamed ‘NR-15.’

The two creations of war flew across space, on a collision course with one another; and when had met each other in the middle, long, flaming swords grew from their hands, and they embraced each other in combat- whilst their shadowy creators watched them on the large monitor screens, within their respective space stations.

As their battle drew to a close, suddenly XN-12 morphed into a giant mouth and devoured NR-15, whole. He then reverted back to his humanoid form, looked at the Mayzarn’s space station in the distance, and suddenly flew at great speed towards it to destroy it. However, as XN-12 drew closer to the enemy space station, suddenly, the universe Einco began to disintegrate- having reached the limit of its expansion.

As all the matter in that universe, and even space-time itself, began to be torn apart, leaving behind only a black emptiness, XN-12 immediately abandoned his quest to destroy the Mayzarn’s space station, and, instead, flew as fast as he could, away from the black wave of annihilation. However, the wave was catching up with him, and just before it was about to swallow him whole- like everything else in space- a wormhole, in the form of a glowing keyhole, suddenly appeared before him, and he quickly flew inside it. Moments later, he flew out of the other end of the wormhole, and now found himself in the strange new environment of the Nexus of Reality multiverse.

XN-12 flew down to the giant, immobile hand of
