About this ebook

In the Deep Sky Chronicles, Michael Le Stark combines subject matter and opinions from some of our most respected scientists, physicists, and historians to tell a story. He combines it with a few of his personal experiences in life, and along with some exciting new theories, everything is woven together as an extraordinary new picture emerges.

A few bold individuals, already familiar to most of us, are highlighted and how their courage and vision arrived just in time, and how one in particular, may have changed and shaped the world even more. Although events in our personal lives and our world, can seem overwhelming at times, we are reminded that each of us, are a world within ourselves, and we are in charge of that world.

Described as very interesting and thought provoking, This book covers an astonishing array of subject matter to create a few refreshing new perspectives.

    Intro

I believe it was Sting who said everyone should write a book. It’s true, because each and every one of us has a unique perspective based on where we live and our own experiences. Of course, even if a person is inspired to do so, finding the time can be difficult. I have been contemplating writing this book for about ten years but only now have had the time.

I had collected ten years of notes to start with, but I actually thought that over time, a lot of these notes I wrote would seem silly and irrelevant. However, as time went on, I became more intrigued, as they began to make more sense, and they began taking on a life of their own. I guess if you’re going to write a book, you might as well make it about something simple, like a children’s book or a cookbook, but I decided to go with the meaning of life.

It was a strange experience because the inspiration and the words would come in waves. It became apparent that my brain was working like a receiver, trying to tune in a radio signal. I was constantly trying to fine-tune the music without any static, or perhaps like a radio telescope, I had to wait until I got the right angle to receive the signal. I could go for days without a word, and suddenly at 2:00 a.m., I would wake up and start writing. On at least a few occasions, I knocked over a few water bottles reaching for my phone to make notations and capture a line of thinking. It was fascinating how the inspiration would shower down like rain, although like rain again, it could suddenly stop. I guess professional writers know all about what I’m talking about, but for me it was a new experience.

This is not a story about little green men. In fact, it may best be described as a virtual camping trip with many of the most brilliant minds, past and present, in physics, biology, astronomy, history, and philosophy. Everyone who attended was in casual attire, and I was just the kid sitting around the camp fire taking a few notes.

I intentionality left spaces and weaved subject matter, including history, science, physics, spirituality, and a few personal experiences, together to keep windows open throughout and to create a more complete picture. I wanted to create a sense of moving through time on multiple levels or a sort of multiverse in print form. I decided to write a book based on a few scientific theories, spirituality, and history. However, reality demanded that the delicate subject of religion must be included, and so it was, but referenced in a new light and with a new perspective in regard to science and history. My intent is not to promote any one religion over any other, but I do speak more about the one I am most familiar with, Christianity.

Regardless of your social background, education, character, religious views, or intelligence, you and I live in a world of people searching for big answers. Like a bright-eyed puppy, the world sits by the front door, waiting for its master to come home. It feels like we arrived at the movie, popcorn in hand, and we are waiting for the show to begin.

However, perhaps our spiritual nirvana is already here and always has been but we just needed to look closer. Or maybe we can learn how to turn down the noise so we can hear the sound of the natural creation in us and all around us.

I am very content, which is why I finally got around to writing this book. My life is like a lot of other people’s lives, a virtual hurricane, but at least for this brief period, I am in the eye of the storm, and it’s peaceful enough for me to reflect on the past, present, and future. In reality, translating the picture from my mind’s eye to these pages without getting sidetracked was a real challenge. The picture was on the front cover. That was the jigsaw box in my mind, but the pieces were scattered everywhere.

We all experience life very differently based on our unique circumstances and because of the choices we make along the way. Some people seem to be called to do certain things or make great sacrifices. Others are content to not do much of anything and find just getting along in life, at any level, very difficult. Against all odds, some of us accomplish much more than we ever could have imagined. While others may be conscience stricken for different reasons, they are able to overcome and persevere, which can be a great accomplishment in itself.

The truth keeps marching on, and today, with so much information at our fingertips, combined with a constant stream of new scientific discoveries, it’s marching faster than ever. To avoid any misunderstandings, I try to be as clear and concise as I can in my explanations.

Starting the process of becoming a mother or father doesn’t take too much sacrifice, but of course being a mother or father is all about sacrifice. I grew up with the advantage of having two wonderful parents, but I was always a little free spirited and perhaps at times a little too adventurous.

I let my imagination run wild, however not beyond the bounds of common sense. Some of the material you read here has already been covered by wise philosophers, historians, scientists, and biologists. I do not challenge any of the seasoned and established experts on their particular subject matter, or steal their thunder or ideas, but simply piece it all together so that an average person can better understand it.

New discoveries about ourselves and everything around us are coming faster than ever today. Even if you just read news on occasion, you often will hear of a new breakthrough, enlightening us on another piece of the scientific puzzle.

I am not a physicist, biologist, doctor, scientist, or historian but only a well-traveled artist. Therefore, I carefully constructed my conclusions and composed ideas based on a few facts, some speculation, and new information. I shaped some of those conclusions together, and that led me to a few discoveries or revelations of my own. I don’t think anyone should take this book or themselves too seriously, so I left some humor in to lighten things up. I could have rambled on and added more content, but I was able to paint the picture I wanted to with less, so I went with the sports car version.

Perhaps a part of the answer to the big why that burns a hole in our heads is revealed here in some way, but of course, you can decide that for yourself. As a result of having this opportunity to creatively express myself, I am now much more content and very pleased to have a little of your time on my soapbox.

We get a larger perspective from the view of a peaceful place, and with a refreshing clarity of thought, but getting there can be difficult for many people. We are spiritual, and we instinctively know we are connected in some way to one another, our universe, in our search for answers and the truth.

Each of us has a very different unique story to tell, and hopefully we grow from our experiences in life. Sometimes by simply revisiting the historical past and then taking a close look at where we are, we can get a better view of the road ahead. I used some of my own personal experiences in life to deflect, change the pace, and draw conclusions that are relevant to the work in its entirety. Some of these events influenced and shaped my opinions, and so they serve to give you a better apperception.

In addition, by taking a fragmented yet broader view of science and history, we get a panoramic snapshot, which may suggest that there is a larger process at work, but when it’s not working, it’s up to us to take charge and choose the kind of world we want to live in. I took a wide-angle view on the subject matter only to create the backdrops for what I chose to focus on. A few experts might compare my backdrops to a school play rather than any glitzy performance. Nevertheless, with fewer distractions, the focus remained on center stage. Our creation is chronicled in concert with an astronomical perspective, and as a result, the concept of us being alone in our universe is diminished. This little self-help book for the planet may have the potential to make a difference in a few people’s lives and have a lasting and positive effect.

    CHAPTER 1

    Strength in Solitude

A fter you read this first part, close your eyes, relax, and start to count your breaths. Exhale as completely as possible so you can inhale smooth and deep. Continue to count your breaths as you focus on trying to clear your mind. Be mindful, but only on your breathing, and as thoughts and worries come, dismiss them, and go back to just counting your breaths.

In a comfortable sitting position, try to get to seventy-two breaths, but if you lose focus, start over. Now, imagine your thoughts are like wild horses running in a pasture, and then, imagine you are the pasture, and soon those same thoughts begin to tire out. In other words, expand to become larger than your running thoughts, rather than one of them. Try to feel the vertical energy raining down and through, and disregard the distracting horizontal energy all around you. The ability to control your thoughts and allow the vertical energy to soothe and relax your mind and body is very powerful.

Now, peace sits in a chair right next to you. Inside the seed of a rose is all the information it needs to fulfill its
