80s Interactive Game - PRITTHIJIT DATTA
1980S
The 1980s was unarguably a golden decade. Looking back, I loved growing up in the decade. The quality of life was superb. I spend great times with my family visiting many places. I travelled abroad, strolled on beaches, enjoyed thrilling rides in theme parks, visited family friends on long distance drives on the motorways and playing with their children nicely. There are so many fond memories of the decade. I remember swapping Transformer stickers in school, watching Grange Hill, dancing on a disco floor, watching videos, racing downstairs to watch morning shows, listening to a personal stereo, receiving a BMX as birthday present, pestering my parents to purchase toys associated with cartoons, shopping at Finefare and much more.
Our world has changed. Social media is dominating the world. We spend countless hours sharing pictures and updates. It is crazy. Times have changed and we live with them. Memories never fad away as they are so precious.
What are your fond memories of the decade? The decade is well- remembered for its cool cartoons, great music scene, blockbuster movies, great TV shows, colourful and vibrant fashion, controversial moments in news and sports.
I would play sandcastles in the beach showing my creatively. Families were sitting in the deck chairs relaxing and admiring the splendid views of the sea. Some families laid out a picnic showing an assortment of food items to indulge in. Dogs were running energetically on the beach fetching a ball. Stunning coastal scenery could be seen on sight like a cliff. What a wonderful way to spend a day? The ice cream van would be in the corner, packed with children and parents asking for ice lollies and 99 ice cream. I would eat the ice cream so quickly. My face was smouldered in ice cream flowing down. Other kids laughed at me. I did not realise. My mum cleaned the face using a box of tissues. It was an embarrassing episode for me.
Hiltons, Woolworths and Fine Fair once dominated the high streets during the 80s. The décor and interior typically reflect the decade. The walls of the shops were creamy in colour. Bright carpets were displayed on the floor. Now it has converted into new shops. In my local town centre, I shopped at the local fine fare supermarket with my parents buying regular groceries. Logos of retailers showed bright shades of colours in the decade. Like white text over a brighter background. On top of a mall, a restaurant once existed serving office workers and customers. It is no longer there. The place has been sealed off fully. Looking at the top of the mall relieved the memorable days of eating a meal at the restaurant.
The retail landscape has transformed completely today. Our purchasing is done mostly through the Internet. We would order groceries order online and we miss out on real retail experience. Many retailers are face increasing pressure to survive. In my local town cente, big name retailers have closed- down like Debenhams and Marks & Spencer. They existed in the town centre for over 30 years. It feels strange seeing the building are derelict. Feel so empty without their presence. Online retail is handy and convenient. In the 80s, it was never like that. We had shops flooded with people. I do not want to see high retail suffers due to technology.
Here are a few pictures showing what fads that we would associate with the decade.

I want to make the book fun and entertaining.
The book will be interactive. It will contain the following features
* A trivia quiz of themes from the decade: cartoon, music, movies, television, sports, fashion and events
* A game of characters related to the 1980s
* A picture game related to the 1980s
* A mallet mallet game.

You will need a dice to play the game.
Decide who will start the game. A maximum of six players can compete in the game.
The first player needs to roll the dice. Move places according to the dice. If you land in the charade square, then you would have to guess the charade correctly. If the charade is guessed correctly, then you roll the dice again, but you do not compete in the round until your next turn. If you get it wrong, then you cannot roll the dice. In the mallet mallet game, you can chose your opponent and might win the round. The same rule to applies to all categories. If you land in the white category, then you do not have a round at all.
Blue: Charade
Yellow: Trivia question
Red: Picture round
Pink: Mallet Mallet
In the last square before the end, you must answer the question correctly to be declared winner.
