God’s Equation
()
About this ebook
God provides you with a promise, in order for you to change your situation. He gives you a promise - whether in the form of a dream, a vision or a desire. In giving you the promise, God shows you the endpoint, or the finished product. In the case of Abraham, the promise was simple; “I will make you a father of many nations”. In the case of Joseph, the dream was clear. He was going to be a ruler and his brothers would bow before him. The examples in the Bible are innumerable.
One thing that God does not show you, however, is the “in-between” period. God does not show you what happens between His promise and its manifestation, which can be very frustrating. In God’s Equation, the author highlights what happens in the time period between the promise and its manifestation, and how to behave during this period. After reading this book, you will realise that God’s equation is simpler than you can ever imagine.

Preface
Anyone in the body of Christ who comes across GOD’S EQUATION should never let it pass by, but should grab it and take time to go through its pages. You will never regret investing your resources – both financial and time – in this book. The author has taken his time to uncover the nuggets and truth on how God operates in relation to His word. He has tried by all means to make the presentation of ideas simple and clear to understand.
I sincerely recommend this book as a must have in the body of Christ.

Introduction
Life is a series of patterns and repetitions. The sun rises in the east and then it sets in the west. It has always been like this; it is seemingly not about to change in our lifetime. Year in, year out, the four seasons give way to the other.
By observing these seasons, it is completely easy to predict and anticipate the next step in the process. As it is easy to predict and anticipate the next step in many of the patterns, so it is when it comes to God’s Equation
. If you understand the equation, then you will know what follows once God has given you a promise.
In the succeeding pages of this book, I hope to simply state and prove God’s Equation. The Word of God has been written for us as a bedrock for our fulfilment and example, so I will espouse God ‘s equation by referring to the Word of God at length and outlining real-life experiences.
Chapter 1
God Starts with the Promise
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are Yes
in Christ – 2 Corinthians 1:20
God’s Equation starts with a promise, which is encapsulated in His word. The promise aims to address a particular situation in the life of the person it is made. The earth, as we know it, was formed and shaped through the spoken word. Genesis 1:2-3 records and helps us to understand this undisputed truth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said,
Let there be light, and there was light.
The succeeding verses of Genesis Chapter One contain an account of how God used the spoken word to form and shape the earth and to put things and systems in place. By the word of two witnesses, every truth is established. To place emphasis on this point, the apostle, John, says in John 1:1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
God used the Word to bring about transformation. John says, Through him all things were made.
John deliberately emphasises the fact that the Word was a key ingredient in the creation process. This point is apparent from John’s use of words such as:
Through Him all things were made.
Without Him nothing was made.
The presentation in the negative, Without Him, nothing was made
seeks to remove any iota of doubt regarding the formation of the earth. Through the word – something invisible and intangible - God created and called forth the tangible; something physical.
One of the characteristics and qualities of God is His consistency, that He never changes. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever
– Hebrews 13:8. Because God never changes and because He is consistent, He still uses the Word to alter and re-arrange situations, including your personal circumstances.
Scientists have long concluded that sound – a type of the Word – travels through three types of mediums, namely; solids, gases and liquids. The Word of God, once spoken, can never be stopped by anything.
Promises Come Through the Word
The Word of God encapsulates promises of all sorts. For no matter how many promises God has made, they are
Yes in Christ. And so, through him, the
Amen is spoken by us to the glory of God.
– 2 Corinthians 1:20. The Word of God contains solutions to the challenges you face in your personal life. No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
– 1 Corinthians 10:13.
I have always had an interest in agriculture and horticulture, specifically where it concerns planting and growing long-term crops or what you could call trees. With proper guidance and influence, I could have gone into long-term fruit farming, had I not taken the path I have. The idea is not totally lost; I still harbour ambitions of engaging in fruit farming. Whilst at elementary and secondary schools, I was especially fascinated about the science, art and techniques of plant grafting. Grafting involves the joining of two plants so that the two grow jointly as one tree. It is done by joining the rootstock (the lower part that bears the stem and the root system) with another one called the scion. The scion is the top part which bears the desired fruits.
In a letter addressed to the Jews in exile, James writes, "Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls." – James 1:21.
James uses a horticultural and agricultural term engrafted
to drive an important point. When the Word of God comes, it seeks to change the trajectory and your life and path, the same way that the trajectory of a tree is changed by engrafting a different scion or cultivar to the original rootstock. The rootstock can be likened to your background, where you were born, how you were brought up and all that has to do with your past. It does not matter what your roots are – that is your background. Once the Word of God has been engrafted into your life, it will bring about new experiences, change the direction of your life, you will experience new things in your life, you will bear different fruits, you will look different and you will act differently.
