Dawn's Confessions

The horizon, cut by mountains that loomed like cobalt paper cutouts, slowly shifted pink as dawn crept up. Stars slowly faded from brilliant diamonds scattered by the millions across a velvet universe to a few isolated pearls that shimmered pink, green, blue and gold. The biggest one wobbled in the sky, misshapen by the rings just faintly visible around its belly.

Wisdom stared up at the sky, watching the stars fade away, leaving only the cluster of planets that filled their new solar system. The ringed world went from pearly pink to shimmering gold as the sun peeked above the mountains. Six planets in the sky, all close enough that Wisdom could see hints of continents. Clouds? No, continents and oceans.

How odd to go from no planet at all to so many that their leaders were still arguing about which world would be best to colonize first.
