Classical Poems From a Modern Woman - Vanessa Brisbane

    TALE OF THE BARD

    PART ONE

We are lovers you and I

Said the chisel to the stone

As I etch my words upon you

    I sing of love’s refrain

I sing a song of moonlight

    Of lovers in the rain

We are lovers you and I

    Said papyrus to reed

As you flow your ink upon me

    Telling tale of stolen embraces

    My surface yields beneath you

And my swollen heart, it races

We are lovers you and I

Said the parchment to the quill

You caress me with your nib

As you tell of your desire

And with your words of passion

    Add kindling to my fire.

We are lovers you and I

Said the biro to the page

You take the words I offer

    Tickled gently on your face

You hold them in your memory

    One that never will erase

    PART TWO

    U can b my luva

Sed de stylus 2 da screen

    U send me sxy txts

N da pics r quite obscene

    Um thx, replied the mobile

    Her expression it was bare

    I didn’t txt it just 2 u

    U no I like 2 share ;)

She had long since lost her lover

    But forever was his wife

She wept as she heard the words

    Between the two young folk

To her, her love had been her life

    And passion was no joke

Her love had been a printing press

And though their time was brief

    That fact had little impact

    Upon the lady’s grief

    For
