About this ebook
Running through swirling snow and temperatures so cold she could freeze solid in minutes, Maisewith (Maisey) Reems falls into a deep Icy crevasse next to a cave entrance. Inside the hollow crystal-lined mountain she 9s accepted and kept alive by a community of intelligent, golden-furred humanoids who tell her she is inside the moon they call Laeperia. Inside the giant geode, lit and warmed by the glowing crystals, she has no choice but to share in the colony’s work and abide by their rules. The contradictory rules, enforced with extreme penalties, are intended to keep peace among the trapped inhabitants and maintain population numbers at 200, all the cavern’s resources will support. Only when someone dies, is another male/female pair are allowed to mate, and once a child is born, the couple is separated, never to mate again. Maisewith is horrified when a female inhabitant is tortured and executed, without defense or a fair trial, allegedly for lying. Unwilling to live under such tyranny, Maisewith plans her escape. She’d rather freeze to death than live in fear. That plan changes when her escape is thwarted and she is forced to mate with an elderly Laeperian. She is determined she will not bring a child into this monotonous, confining, and unjust society, but what choice does she have? The only escape from this cavern is death. This novel is the first of a four-book series. The second, The Girl on the Green Planet; the third, The Girl Goes to War; and the fourth, The Girl Finds Her Place, will soon follow in order.
This saga contains adult content: sex and violence, and is not appropriate for minors.
