About this ebook

I was born in Reykjavik. When I was four, we emigrated to Manitoba. We moved to a farm near Gimli Manitoba. Home of the three Viking graves. No one is sure how they got there but I'm confident they didn't take Air Canada, as we did. We lived on Sixth Street. There was a ditch in front of our house. It seemed like everyone had a truck. A lot of the houses sat on cinder blocks. Almost no one had a basement. Flooding. Highway 9 went in and out of town in a flash. If you sneezed, you missed it.

I can't get it right. The voices are not the voices I heard. They are filtered. Voices hiding myself. From the things I have done. The things that I have thought. The things I don't remember.

I don't know why I married. Alain. She was beautiful. Even with the scars. From the airplane crash. And the plastic surgery. She had a gap in her two front teeth that made a slight lisp in her voice. It was very charming. She was like Vanessa Redgrave in the movie Blow Up. I met her on a flight from New York to London. I was smuggling twenty pounds of hashish. She was serving me scotches. I asked her out to dinner that night. We fucked that same evening.
