    From the small office of the port authority, the harbor mistress, Sigourney, could see the ship anchored, flying the yellow flags of disease. They billowed in the light breeze, the bright yellow standing out ominously against the gray clouds forming on the horizon. Sigourney frowned as she raised her spyglass for a better look. A woman was carved into the bow of the ship; a crown of roses was carved on her head, her face serene as the ship bobbed with the gentle waves. It was a large carrack ship with furled sails. There was no crew on the deck, and for a ship of its size, the crew would be large. Sigourney’s assistant stood nearby, ledger at the ready.

    "It’s the Crowning Glory," she declared, lowering the spyglass. Her assistant’s hand hovered over the ledger as his eyes widened.

    Her Highness’s ship? He gulped
