About this ebook

Can you say that you love and respect kooks? The Finz might have to. Plastics in the ocean are slowing down the motion! The Finz must find a way to clean the sea and beach and make it plastic-FREE! But this will only happen if Lord Sarrk and Mode can destroy Trevor’s gnarly virus and restore Zoid powers in time.

Flash finds himself in a sticky wax dilemma – he needs a FreeForma surf skate bike and makes a surfboard deal with Syke that he cannot keep.

Meanwhile, the race is on. But this is no ordinary competition. Flash and Syke battle it out with the hairy headed humans on the FreeRacer track. Sliding, wave-riding, and freestyling. Who will win? I don’t know. Read on to enjoy the show!

    Chapter One

    Learners on Logs

Beautiful Bondi Beach basks in the sun with its golden sands and rolling surf crashing to the shoreline. A pelican glides on the crest of a wave, swooping over the top of the Finz who are sitting on their surfboards waiting for the next set while a shark fin constantly circles them.

The pelican dives down, just missing Flash’s head. Flash shakes his fist at the pelican, shouting, Hey! You maniac! Watch where ya going, will ya?

The pelican gawps, drifting across the waves before disappearing into the hazy sunshine while the shark fin continues to loop around.

I’ll get ya next time, Flash, me old mate! shouts the pelican in the distance, a hint of green twinkling in his eyes.

Woody pipes up, What’s the matter, Flash? Take it easy, mate.

Take it easy, Woody? Last time he almost pooped right on me finny head!

So what, mate? What’s wrong with a bit of bird poop on ya fiberglass?

Bro! Have you seen how much a pelican poops? Huh? It’s like a dump truck releasing its load!

Bearing a cheesy grin, Woody shrugs at Flash.

When a piece of plastic floats past them, a sea turtle pops his head out of the water and gulps it down.

No, Terry! MJ warns him. That’s not for you to eat. It’s a piece of plastic!

Terry the turtle coughs, splutters, chokes, almost drowns. MJ helps him to spit the plastic out.

The turtle back-paddles with a sickly face. Yo, thanks MJ. I thought it was a jellyfish!

No worries, Terry mate. Just be more careful next time, MJ calls as Terry swims away.

What is it with these hairy-headed humans and their plastic waste? Jazz scowls. It’s in the oceans everywhere!

The Finz study the water, noticing more plastic floating past their boards.

It’s killing our ocean friends on a daily basis, huffs MJ.

The Finz nod to each other in agreement.

Syke paddles over, clearly not happy about something. The shark fin continues to swim around them all.

Arr, what’s up Syke? asks Sharp. You don’t look so surf-tastic, bro.

Syke growls, A kook just dropped straight in on me, dinging my ride, man. Look! Syke points to the damage on his board. The shark fin stops next to Syke’s board for a moment as if examining the damage. Then the shark swims around the Finz again.

Bone shakes his head. No way, man! What a bummer.

Syke is vexed by the situation. I’ve only had it for like a few weeks, man!

Arr, these human, hairy-headed learners on logs. They should really still be riding on foam boards. They haven’t found their surf chi yet, arr. Sharp pouts.

Woody agrees. Same happened to me only last week, mates. So many learners are out here lately.

Yeah, Flash protests, like, it’s okay to learn to surf, right? But they move up to logs too soon when they should still be riding foamies. Yet we’re the ones who have to pay the price! Getting our boards dinged!

Bone lowers his eyebrows. I hate these crocodile wrestlers, man!

The shark fin stays close while a good set of waves roll in.
