The National Cherry Blossom Festival starts today because it’s the beginning of April in DC. The Japanese cherry trees gifted to the city of DC in 1912 from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo City are in all their wondrous glory. The delicate pink and violet blossoms have most of the municipality scented in the supple scent of sakura. I relish the silky rain of cherry peddles that flow through the streets as I walk briskly to my destination. 

I get a lot of looks from attractive people this time of day. I’m between lectures with an empty schedule for the rest of the day into the evening.
