About this ebook

A suburban serial killer uses delivery apps, like DoorDash and Postmates, to lure his prey. He’s got the local police fooled and his property booby trapped. But Sarah is his next target, and she may turn into his greatest challenge.

Sarah survived the many abuses of her traumatic childhood. Now she's figured out the delivery app game to get a leg up on her competition - and life. But how well will she do when an order of baby back ribs - and her GPS - lead her to the house of a serial killer who likes to play games with his victims before he kills them?

    DELIVERING

Although there was no rule against using two delivery apps at the same time, Sarah still felt a rush like she was railing against something. Scheming the system. DoorDash was her go-to, because the money was better, but Postmates filled in the gaps during DoorDash’s slow times. Sarah could do the logistics of it all in her head, and this gave her an edge on the other delivery app drivers out there.

And she knew they were out there. She would see them at Chipotle or Applebee’s, waiting with their keep-it-hot cloth bags as the restaurant slowly put the orders together. There were so many of them, but Sarah wasn’t discouraged because she had doubled down on the delivery apps. She was one step ahead of the average DoorDasher.

On a Saturday spring evening, a breeze had picked up and Sarah decided to roll her windows down. Sarah preferred the crisp natural air over the processed air conditioner, so long as she could still hear the 90s country, classic rock, and hip-hop mix she streamed through the speakers.

The first few dashes were simple. The food was ready at the restaurants and the drop-offs were only minutes away. Sarah liked to keep busy, with orders back-to-back.

Then there was the Chili’s order.

The damn Chili’s that never seemed to have their act together. They always seemed to overlook the DoorDash orders, leaving Sarah waiting and waiting and not making any money. Sarah hated that place, but she knew if she declined the order, DoorDash would put a tick in her acceptance rate; might as well slap a ruler to her wrist like Grandmother used to do when she was a kid.

She accepted, but instead of heading straight there, into the crap-fest she knew was waiting for her, Sarah decided she would call ahead and make sure they didn’t screw up her night. She didn’t want to have to sit there all alone, watching the waitresses flirt with the bartender while the pimple-faced to-go guy played Geometry Dash on his phone instead of putting her order together.

Sarah used her car’s Bluetooth to call Chili’s. Hi. This is Sarah. I’m a DoorDash driver and I just want to make sure you have the order for…. She scrambled around on her phone to find the name. H is the name. For H.

H, the guy on the line said. Yeah, uh, we have that one. It’ll just be a few minutes longer.
