About this ebook
According to Mayan prophecy, the gods of the underworld will declare war on man. Their undoing however, is hidden deep in the Yucatan in 1572, when an angel entrusts a celestial weapon to a Spanish Conquistador for safe keeping.
Four-hundred-and-fifty years later, the angel reveals himself to Soledad and details her ties to the weapon. But the young English professor is unsure of herself. Out of shape and a lonely widow at thrity, her nightly predilection for scotch makes her more likely to join a twelve-step program than become a hero.
Soledad is forced into action when she learns that her longtime family friend, Senator Earl Edmondson has ties to the conquistador's past and the weapon. Ties that could save or destroy her.
Now Soledad is a pawn caught in a dangerous game played by forces beyond her comprehension. If she doesn't figure out who to trust, it will be the beginning of the end.

Andrea Franco Cook
Andrea was exposed to the world of writing early in life. From as far back as she can remember, her mother always had a novel in the works. They often discussed plot twists and characters together, and although her mother never published, she passed her love of the craft onto Andrea. Writing has since become a part of her everyday life. Andrea's inspiration for PAWN OF THE GODS followed after a visit to the Mayan pyramids in the Yucatan. While there, she learned some interesting facts about the civilization's religion. Specifically, the Mayans rich mythology (included in her book). Andrea was also amazed by the culture's architectural and mathematical advancements. She expected to be wowed when she saw the pyramids but nothing could have prepared her for their scope. Upon returning home, her imagination went into overdrive and a story was born. Andrea recently completed her second full length novel, THE PARALLEL, a young adult historical portal fantasy that transports the reader back to an alterate version of Ancient Carthage. She plans to publish it soon. Andrea has also published an academic textbook and written for local magazines and newspapers. On a more personal note, Andrea is a veteran of the United States Army and a graduate of Airborne School. Her service as a Military Police Officer led her to a career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Within this agency, she held a variety of positions which allowed her to live and work in different parts of the country. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work and masters degrees in social work and public administration and policy, and she is actively involved in her community. Her home of residence is Gillette, Wyoming, where she lives with her husband.
