Buzz! Buzz! the bedside alarm clock was louder than usual today. It was 6:00 a.m. and my eyelids were open but, my body was still glued to the bed. It’s a wonder to me how I can ignore other sounds like birds chirping, doors opening or slamming shut or even the loud car engines rumbling by when I sleep. Yet I religiously respond to the sound of the clock buzzing.

I live with my mother in a modern minimalist house located in a gated subdivision

I stretched and stood up to tackle the long day ahead. With the sun so bright, I always appreciate that it allows us to live another day. I opened the bedroom door by just a crack.

The smell of breakfast fills the air before I went downstairs. The crackling sound of making fried eggs, toast bread and the brewing of coffee beans fill my ears with the utmost delight.

Oh Mum, I can smell the yummy breakfast!

Yes, and it’s delicious. You better hurry up before it gets cold otherwise you have to whip up a fresh set of toast for yourself.

Hmph, I’m only twelve years old mum.
