For My Country (a Stella Novella)

About this ebook
It's WWII and a beautiful young French widow, Isabelle Mangot, in occupied southern France, has chosen an unpopular path. The town of Sisteron is controlled by German Captain Eric Schmitt, who has taken her as his girlfriend. Isabelle, though she dislikes the arrangement, realizes it is a better arrangement than being sent to Paris and forced prostitution. She assumes this will be her life until she meets a French Canadian spy sent to the Sisteron area to locate the German supertrain that has been hard to find, but has been transporting troops and weapons throughout western Europe. While trying to hide from German soldiers he finds himself in Isabelle's house. There is an instant connection, but Jacques knows he can't jeopardize his mission. Because of her relationship with the Captain, Jacques enlists the aid of Isabelle and after a course of events they find themselves on the run. Heading toward his rendezvous point in Spain with Isabelle, the two find their romance blossom even as they are being chased by the enemy.
This is a novella, under 20,000 words, and 30% of the author revenues are donated to charity.
Stella Minonas
Stella Minonas is my pen name although there are Greek and American reasons for its use. I wanted to create novella's that would be affordable, allow people to read them in a short period of time, while still allowing them to escape everyday life. I also wanted a percentage of the proceeds to go to charity without my name involved, because the people who read the novella's are the people who are actually helping make the world a better place. Each novella will explain the charity of choice, along with more information about it and where the reader can go for even more information. While these novella's will probably not win any awards, my hope is that they will allow the reader to escape for awhile without taking up too much of their valuable time.
