Dedication
This book is dedicated to my Heavenly Father, who has inspired this story through His gift of the Holy Spirit. The battle of good between evil wages onward and will continue until the end of time, but His power is in the Word, and His love is endless and unconditional. We are His mighty warriors ordained to spread the Word, and by His grace He gives us eternal life. This story is written for the purpose of helping our young people to search and find I Am, the one and only true God, to assist them in making decisions between right and wrong. I pray that all those who read and enjoy this story will help spread the Word around the world while we wait for the return of the Lamb, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As He promises, I Am the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Me!
Cast of Characters
Midnight—Leader of the Ghost Riders who has dedicated his mortal life to helping those in need. With his special powers, he is truly a leader but is tested time and again. With hurtful memories of the Shadow People, he tries to leave the past behind, only to cross their paths again. Will he be prepared?
Ghost Kitty—Once an evil clone of Midnight, he changed his wicked ways and helped save mankind. His powers joined with his brothers give him great courage, and he becomes a leader in his own right. But he faces many challenges along the way.
Roedee—A mutated mouse fashioned by science who thought he finally found his place in the world but instead he faces many test and suffers many losses. He fights side by side with his comrades protecting the innocent. His powers united with his brothers give him great strength, and through his journeys he learns many lessons.
Gargyies—Fur mates of the Ghost Riders invented by the professor. Tiny flying furry little creatures that resemble miniature gargoyles. They produce empathy juice
to help fight evil. They are messengers and guardians of mankind casting blessings upon the righteous, and their objective is to shield and serve the threesome.
Dragon—Once a vile horrible beast transformed into a kindhearted dragon with one large head and wings seventy feet across. His eyes, as blue as the ocean, represent peace and goodwill. He has sworn to watch over and be the protector of all that is good.
Jata—Queen of the werecats. She is a teacher of justice who discovers the Word that she uses as a weapon to fight immorality with morality, and she stands by Midnight when Thomas abandons him because he refuses to see the truth.
Zorah—The Prince of Darkness who once tried to control mankind through a New World Order. He is the originator of the Shadow People, but he escaped from inside the pyramid prison. He walks the earth in many forms and tempts the virtuous using a mask of deceit.
Professor ReMax—He was thought to be the Creator, but he is only a tool used by the ruler of all, I Am, to help the Ghost Riders overcome evil. His choice to stay with his family for the remainder of his mortal life is the right choice, but his scientific mind helps the threesome again and again as he aids them in their mission to save the innocent.
Thomas and Telesa Sheffield—Midnight’s favorite humanoids. Thomas saved him when he was just a little kitten. They share a special bond that Midnight shares with no one else, but things change, and they are put to the test in ways you will never imagine.
I Am—The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He is the one and only true God, Yahweh and Yeshua.
Introduction
Midnight’s Ghost Riders
Follow Me - ‘I Am’
The Shadow People are cast into the bottomless pit, a lake of fire and brimstone, and they are destroyed.
Dancing in the heavens are dazzling lights that surround the threesome, and out of the light come these words:
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the ruler of all. I am the Creator, the eternal Most High. I breathe life into each of you, and my grace shines willingly upon you, for you have saved mankind from its own destruction and freed many souls. You have done well, my sons, and the power of your love for the innocents has earned you a place in my kingdom. I will grant you that which you seek most, a living soul, but you must surrender your immortality for mortality. I bless each of you with nine lives. If you choose to keep watch over the earth, I will allow you to retain your superpowers, but you must use them for only good.
With the nods of their heads, they generously accept their reward, and they change in the twinkling of an eye.
Jata positions herself next to Zorah and says, Your pure evil has harmed many animals and humans, and we must do away with you. Our numbers overtake you, and your clan and you can no longer harm the innocents.
At that moment, Zorah frees his right arm from the chains of silver that binds him, and he raises his sword and thrusts it toward Jata, killing her by decapitation, which is the only way werecats can be slain.
Midnight and Roedee take the power of two and cast down a luminous light, but their powers are weak, and without the power of three, they cannot endure, and this brief moment of weakness costs them dearly.
Zorah bursts out of the chains and cast a ball of fire into the sky, striking the leader of the Ghost Riders, and Midnight, now mortal, falls to the ground in agony as the Dragon and the gargyies surround Zorah, trying to stop his escape, but he flees to fight another day.
Roedee comes to the side of his dearest friend and tries to heal him, but his energy is drained, and his ability to heal is lost, and all he can do is watch as his beloved companion takes his very last breath.
This is Roedee’s first experience with death, and he cries, My Oolah, my very bestest friend, my Oolah.
Shaking his little fist into the air, he pledges. I’ll get you, Zorah, you kitty whacker. If it’s the last thing I ever do, I’ll get you!
And the saga continues.
Chapter 1
As the great leader of the vampire’s escapes, the pride of werecats surround Jata and Midnight, who are lying lifeless on the ground next to each other. A bright star glowing in the heavens casts down a dazzling soft light, and they are reborn, having lost one of their nine lives.
Roedee jumps up with joy and shouts, Midnight, you’re back! Don’t you ever do that to me again, do you hear me, Oolah?
Yes, Roedee, calm down. Remember we all have nine lives, including you…and who is this Oolah?
It’s you, Midnight, and it means ‘my very bestest friend.’ You’ll always be my Oolah!
The leader of the Ghost Riders rubs his head gently against Jata’s and asks her, Are you okay?
and with a content purr, she answers, I’m fine. How are you?
Like a sweet serenade, they croon in harmony, as all is well, and they rest in preparation for the next battle. Meanwhile, Roedee makes a visit to see Ghost Kitty.
All right, scuzball, where are you? Do you have any idea what you have done?
Roused from his afternoon catnap, Ghost Kitty yawns and asks, Wazzup, Roedee? I’ve been enjoying my life without any regrets, little mouse!
You think?
Just what’s your problem, mouse?
My problem is you breaking up the Ghost Riders and abandoning the power of three. You have some nerve leaving us to fight all alone because of your arrogant, narcissistic self. Do you hear what I’m sayin’?
Hey, wait a minute. I don’t deserve to be talked to that way. Who do you think you are, and where did you learn all those big words?
I’m Roedee, a superhero who once had a brother who cared about the humanoids and other animals in the world. But you took the easy way out and quit! You left us, and we lost the power of three, and Zorah killed Midnight.
Shedding tears of sadness, Roedee tries to wipe away his sniffles. Ghost Kitty hands him a hanky, and Roedee blows his little mouse nose and cries. That’s right, cat. Midnight lost his life all because of you!
Without any remorse, Ghost Kitty blabs, Well, what are you so worried about? He’s got eight more!
Roedee, who is literally beside himself and very angry, soon discovers that he too is a shape-shifter, and where one little mouse stands a second little mouse emerges.
Hey, how’d you do that?
asks the dumbfounded feline.
I don’t know. Wow, how did I do that? Cool man, just look at me, both of me! Now I’m twice as powerful, so we don’t need you anymore, Ghost Kitty! I will never forgive you, cat.
And the little mouse and his other self disappear.
The next day, Midnight and Roedee visit the professor, who is taking a stroll along the sandy seashore, when they show themselves and begin walking alongside him. "Well, hello, lads.
What brings you here this fine beautiful morning?"
We need your help, Professor,
proclaims Midnight.
Yeah, Ghost Kitty left the gang, and we lost the power of three,
says Roedee.
My, that isn’t good. How can I help?
Continuing their brisk walk along the sandy beach, Midnight asks, Is there a way, Professor, that you can help us regain the power of three? Do you still share our superpowers like you once did after we came out of the decompression chamber?
Oh, no, lads, that was only temporary, and it was taken away when I chose mortality. So what’s the deal with Ghost Kitty? Why did he leave?
Because it’s all about him and only him,
bellows Roedee.
Midnight explains, He doesn’t want to be a superhero anymore because he’s afraid of dying, so he left to be on his own.
Roedee says with a snarl, Yeah, and as usual, he was only thinking about himself, and Midnight lost one of his lives.
Is that true, Midnight?
Yes, Professor. If we had the power of three, we may have defeated Zorah, but even with the help of the werecats, he got away.
So you’ve joined forces with those sneaky little felines?
Yes, and they’re not sneaky. I would trust Jata with my life.
Midnight rages.
Right,
wails Roedee. Just like the way you trusted her with the one you lost.
Upon reaching the lab, they encounter Thomas. Midnight, Roedee, how are you, guys?
he asks with intense excitement. Telesa, with the gracefulness of a swan, walks in behind Thomas holding in her arms their newborn son.
A baby humanoid?
quizzes Roedee.
Thomas takes the baby in his arms and announces, This is our son, Zackery Thomas Sheffield. Zack, meet the Ghost Riders. I have a lot to tell you about these guys when you’re old enough.
Looking around for the third member of the gang, Telesa asks, Where’s Ghost Kitty? Didn’t he come with you?
Midnight lowers his head and says, No, he’s left the brotherhood and chosen not to be a Ghost Rider, and he abandoned the trio.
Well, where does that leave you, Midnight?
asks Thomas. One short of the power of three, and that’s why we’re here to see the professor.
I’ve got it,
broadcasts the older gent looking over his black- rimmed glasses. We’ll get you triple the capacity by using a device to reflect the powerful beams of light from your collars. I’ll use the decompression chamber to energize its composition so that it can withstand the magnification of power. Now come on and let’s get started!
Meanwhile, Roedee continues practicing his shape-shifting, changing forms back and forth, but he doesn’t want to share his newly found ability with Midnight until he fully understands the extent of his powers.
For the next several days, testing and more testing is done using minerals and other precious stones to produce a reflective object so strong that it can endure the power generated by the superhero’s collars. Finally, after many failures, the professor tries one more time and places the apparatus in the decompression chamber, and the end result is a radiant round crystal less than a half inch thick and three inches in diameter making it easily transportable.
Midnight and Roedee take the form of a perfect triangle, placing the crystal at the top, and with their collars aglow, they cast out two magnificent beams of light that reflect perfectly, and once again, they have the power of three. But will it be enough to stop Zorah?
The duo revisit Giza, home of the great pyramids where they recharge their superpowers and practice using the crystal, and every time they try, it is a success. They are ready to return to Black Mountain before the next full moon.
Jata,
calls Midnight as she shows herself next to him licking the wounds on her paws. What happened?
"While you were away, Zorah came back trying to finish us off, and with the touch of my paws against his flesh, I was burned.
He was so hot, and you can bet I will never do that again!" Using the reflection from the crystal, the twosome remit two shafts of light, and in moments, Jata is healed.
Thank you,
she purrs as she lays down to rest.
They need a plan and quickly, something that will end Zorah once and for all. As darkness falls upon the city, the humanoids of the town go into hiding, as they fear the danger that lurks on Black Mountain.
Since the chains of silver did not restrain the evil one but only for a short time, they must plot a surprise attack. They have to strike first, and he can’t see them
