A picture containing clipart Description automatically generatedTwelve-year-old Zoe and ten-year-old Bella’s dad had just accepted a new job in Arizona at Red Rock Utilities. He had been with Seattle’s Puget Power for six years, but the offer from Red Rock was too good to turn down. It would give his family more money and even provide a new home. There would be additional money for the sisters. More clothes, makeup, and other things little girls wanted. Unfortunately for his daughters, it required moving from the NW population center of Everett, Washington to the small Arizona village of Red Rock. The sisters were not happy.

Their dad, aware of their objections, countered with, There are advantages.
He explained, "No rain. It’s not crowded. People in Red Rock are friendly. They want to get to know you. I checked out the grade school. Red Rock Elementary is new and much nicer than your
old school. Bella likes to draw, and the school offers a special art class for gifted kids. Zoe likes acting. They have an after-school drama club Zoe can join."
