In the Waning Shadows - Daniel Forest

    century.

    23 Ways to Midnight

You know it’s coming, the feeling is there

The never-ending search, the why, the where

You chose to stand outside and observe

Now your caught alone on that edge

Not sure if you should turn back

Not sure if you should continue

23 ways to midnight, how do you get there

Sitting in the bar, hoping the pretty one picks you

Or sitting in the bar, watching the Friday night fights

23 ways to midnight, pick one

Dancing the night away to rid yourself of the frustration

Or screaming down a backroad at 100 MPH

23 ways to midnight, pick one

A dinner and a movie, the old familiar way

First person shooters on the vid box are fun

23 ways to midnight, pick one

The deep woods as the owl calls

The lake where the catfish bite

23 ways to midnight, pick one

Pizza, ice cream and binge watching

Keg parties that last until 4 am

23 ways to midnight, pick one

    Road trips under the moonlight

Watching the flames as the bonfire burns

23 ways to midnight, pick one

Bailing out a friend from jail

Waiting on a taxi that never arrives

23 ways to midnight, pick one

Taking a snort and drinking some beer

Watching the nude gals dance at the club

23 ways to midnight, pick one

Taking a picture of the full moon rising

Getting mugged in a dark parking lot

23 ways to midnight, pick one

Reflecting on a life full of frustration

Watching fireflies dance in the air

23 ways to midnight, pick one

A concert where the music is kicking

An airport when the flight’s been canceled

23 ways to midnight, pick one

Watching your love turn and walk away

    It’s almost midnight, that’s 23 ways

    Bitter and Bitching

I hate my fucking life, God you are not helping me, and I don’t know why

I have tried to do what is right. I have tried to treat others with respect.

I have worked my ass off for years and sacrificed many other years to help family.

I am middle-aged, unemployed and financially broke. I have a degree in Biology.

I have 20 yrs experience in the biotech/pharma industry.

I have been looking for a job for over 10 yrs while being a care giver for both my Grandmother and my Father.

Great economy? Business can’t fill jobs? Bullshit!!! Hundreds of resumes and phone calls over these yrs.

Phone interviews and a handful of FTF interviews but no offers.

Nothing but extreme anxiety, mental health issues, various physical health issues, anger and confusion.

Now I’m just tired and don’t give a shit anymore.

    Hawk is Flying

    Teeth chattering, body shivering

    Water dripping in and soaking
