Introduction
M
ost people suck
at network marketing. I’ve watched thousands join and quit over the years to know this to be true. Maybe you are one of those people. But listen, I get it. Starting a business from scratch and making it successful is beyond challenging. And when you add in the negative perception of network marketing on top of all that, well, good luck.
I’m just kidding, of course. Luck has nothing to do with it. But it might be the hardest thing you will ever go through. Making a business successful is filled with constant peaks and valleys, but with a lot more valleys than peaks. One minute you feel like you’re on top of the world, but literally the next minute, you feel like it’s all coming crashing down. And that feeling can last for weeks, months, and sometimes years. I know because I’ve been there, many more times than I’d like.
But it’s OK. Just because you suck now doesn’t mean you always have to suck. Maybe your mind isn’t in the right place. Maybe you have no business experience. Maybe you have no leadership experience. Maybe you aren’t making enough sacrifices. Maybe you don’t want it as badly as you say you want it. Or maybe you literally just started and haven’t even had a chance to suck yet.
You may even be someone who hasn’t even started yet and is simply just interested in network marketing. Whatever the case, I’m going to teach you a step-by-step process for how to build an absolute network marketing empire! I’ve been through it all, but have come out on top. Now it’s my responsibility to teach you how you, too, can come out on top.
You’re going to find this book tremendously beneficial. I know this because I have confidence in my ability to teach others how to be successful when it comes to building a business. I’ve done it many times before. In addition, I give you actual things that you can do to build the business. I’ve read many network marketing books that have been more motivational than anything. I don’t need to be motivated. Rather, I want to be told exactly how to do something and then just go out and do it. Hopefully that’s how you are, too.
If you do need to be motivated, I have included a section that teaches you how to self-motivate, but that’s it. The rest of the book literally explains in incredible detail everything that I’ve done to build a massive network marketing business.
So, yes, this book gives you my own step-by-step process to success. Does that mean you will have success if you apply what you learn? I tend to think so, but of course I can’t guarantee your success or income. Whether or not you are able to create a successful network marketing business comes down to numerous factors, including your own individual effort (full disclaimer below). And by the way, everything I cover in this book will help you become better at business in general. It’s not just for network marketers. I’ve geared it toward network marketers, of course, because I myself am one, but many of the principles I teach can be applied to running any business.
DISCLAIMER: I cannot guarantee that you will earn any money from the training I have provided in this book or other network marketing trainings I release. Everything that I teach is what I have done to become successful, but that doesn’t guarantee your own personal success. Everything taught is my own personal opinion based on knowledge and experience. Your earning potential is determined by your own individual effort, knowledge, and skill.
The first thing I’m going to do is go over my network marketing story. I do this for a few reasons. First, I have to create credibility for myself. I don’t want anyone thinking that I’m just some random dude writing a network marketing success book that has no idea what he’s doing. Definitely not the case. Second, I want you to understand where I’ve come from. I want you to know that I struggle just as you struggle. I want you to relate to me. You’ll learn why that’s so important later on in the book. But I’ve been through a lot and have been able to overcome a lot. I want you to understand that no matter what you’ve been through or are currently going through, you too can overcome it. There is no situation that you can’t overcome to create a successful business or just become successful in general. I’m a firm believer in that.
As you’re reading this book, I need you here with me. I need you present and paying close attention to what I’m teaching you. That’s the only way you’re going to get anything out of this book. It’s one thing to read a book, but it’s another thing to comprehend it and apply what you learn. You can’t be reading just to read. In addition, I want you to highlight the heck out of the book! You won’t hurt my feelings, I promise. You should see some of my own books. They look like my kids got a hold of them! But whenever you come across something of importance, highlight it. It would also be good to have a notepad next to you and write down what you feel is important as well, especially crucial strategies that you can use that can benefit your specific business. There’s a good chance, too, that you will need to read this multiple times. One time probably won’t be enough since there are so many important topics covered and strategies I share.
OK, let’s jump into it.
My Network Marketing Story
I
went to college
to play baseball and get a degree in business and finance so I could eventually open up my own financial planning business. The idea was to graduate and start with a job in financial advising to gain experience and prepare myself to run my own business. So that’s what I did.
Right out of college I started working for an advising firm. It most certainly didn’t go as planned. It’s kind of interesting how at a young age you always feel you have your life planned out and then suddenly that entire plan is destroyed. That was me in 2008. I discovered that the financial industry sucked. It wasn’t what I thought it was. It consisted of a lot of shady people who would cold-call the crap out of their friends and family just to earn a buck.
I know not everyone in the industry is this way but, from my own experience, that’s how it seemed. I’m all about building a business and earning a living, but it has to be something I’m passionate about that is actually positively impacting others’ lives. I didn’t feel that was the case with what I was doing. I quickly lost passion and developed somewhat of a hatred for the industry.
But I still tried to make it work because I didn’t know what else to do. To be honest, I feel this is why most people don’t make changes. This and a sense of job security. And it makes sense. If you have a family to provide for, making an abrupt change in a career to do something on your own that might not work out can be incredibly risky. It’s much easier to continue doing something you don’t particularly enjoy doing if it will continue to support your family. That risk of starting something new is something that most people aren’t willing to take. What’s interesting, though, is that most people feel that their job is secure, but is it really? I’ve known people who have worked for the same company for 20+ years who were suddenly terminated. Let’s be real here. There’s risk with anything you do. It’s a big reason why I recommend network marketers keep their current job and build their network marketing business on the side until they get to the point where they can afford to quit their job. But, even then, there is still risk involved.
But with my financial advising career, even though I didn’t enjoy it, I still worked my tail off. I’m a hard worker as you will discover later on in the book. That’s the way I was raised. My parents always taught me that, if I was going to do something, I needed to go all in with it. And I did.
But when you’re doing something you don’t like doing and working a ridiculous number of hours, there’s a cost. That cost was my health. I stopped working out, ate like crap daily and drank just about every night. I drank because it was the only way I could get the courage to cold-call people about my business. The weight came piling on in just a short amount of time. Not only that, though, my confidence diminished because I didn’t feel good or like what I saw in the mirror. It got so bad that one day I looked in the mirror and realized I needed a change. I wasn’t happy with who I was becoming physically and emotionally. I needed to find a solution to get back into shape. And that’s when I came across a workout program created by a network marketing company.
That program changed my life. That’s not an exaggeration either. I look back and understand that, if I didn’t come across the program, I wouldn’t be writing this book. Not only did it teach me how important it is to be healthy and got me into the best shape of my life, it’s also the reason I’m involved in network marketing. After I completed the program, the distributor who actually helped me through the program asked me to join the network with her.
At first, just like most people, I was skeptical and turned down the opportunity. All I heard from everyone around me was how it was some sort of scam.
You probably have heard the same. The belief that network marketing is a scam is actually pretty common. But why? There have been certain network marketing companies that have come and gone throughout the years that in fact have been pyramid schemes. They are quickly shut down by the government, but nonetheless, they have led to a pretty bad reputation for all network marketing companies.
