About this ebook

"Curiosity is like a bunch of doors waiting to be opened…"

Are you willing to open this door? When a young girl named V finds herself in a strange place with vague, jumbled-up memories in her head, she will discover a new life outside her own world, but when she finds out that she had died in the past, she wonders and finds out what happened to her as she meets new faces from different worlds. It's time to explore the worlds beyond worlds. This book is based on the theory and imagination of Jay Miles, who wanted to show his thoughts and idea to others so they can understand him and how he sees the world and existence itself.

Jay Miles

Jay Miles had many interests growing up, video games and movies played a big role in developing his understanding of the world and lead him to write The Mariverse. Jay had always been keen on making stories about worlds he could imagine, using inspiration from things that he’d watched and played, using logical thinking about how things work and function. This mixture is what creates his stories. In real life, Jay is a very creative, positive and happy person, with many secrets in his head, creating mysteries in his stories for other people to solve. That way, he could get people to think like he thinks, have them see the many worlds that he sees.

    What Is a Mariverse?

Let’s keep it simple, smallest to biggest.

A person, land, planet, star, solar system, galaxy, universe, multiverse and then what? What’s bigger than the Multiverse? I have a theory that could prove that there’s something far bigger than the Multiverse, and that is called ‘the Mariverse’.

The Mariverse (Mar-ve-verse) is an expanded universe which holds all universes and multiverses. When all the multiverses are formed into one, the Mariverse classifies them and stabilises the differing laws of natural physics, binding each world together one by one.

For a long time, we all thought that we might be the only intelligent lifeforms throughout existence. But what if I told you that through the worlds beyond worlds, there are actually beings far greater than us, that could transcend space and time? What if this were true?

Let me tell you a story of one Memorywalker that became something, but only once she had died.

    Waking Up from Death

She had woken up, only it felt different, like a shockwave had ripped through her body. All she could remember was looking across the ground of sweet grass, then whiteness had her vision, then after that…well, she ended up here. She looked at her surroundings and felt like they were a new path towards a new world. It was very dark, so she couldn’t see much, but as much as she could tell, it wasn’t even a simple room of a house or a building, but instead a cave. The obvious way that proved she was in a natural rock was the bleak area of grey and the hard, cold boulders that surrounded the walls of this place. Another way that she knew she was in a cave was the ground. Dirt, grass, and rocks, and her brown leggings could feel the wet mud that didn’t match the colours of her lower body.

As soon as she stood up from the dirty ground, she rotated her body, whipping her black ponytail across her face as she turned, but her vision was still dark. Through this darkness, she began to breathe heavily in panic. She tried as much as she could to remember how she ended up in this cave, it’s like something or someone had brought her here. Could there be someone watching her at this very second? Could they be in the same room? Her thoughts raced horribly with the idea of being led to her doom. But as she took control of her stress, she thought to herself, Alright, I need to calm down, retrace my steps, remember what I did, that couldn’t be hard, right? She closed her eyes and thought back; however, as much as she tried to remember, her memories were jumbled up, like each memory wasn’t in the right order. At one point, it was a time she was in a huge place with a tar pit, another was doing parkour around trees, another was being pulled away from something, but this memory is vague and like several other memories, she didn’t feel like they were hers.

After what seemed an eternity lost in her scrambled memories, the blackness in her closed eyes cleared to a strange red-yellow light. She opened her sight, expecting just a dark stoned area but instead the space was lightened up by an orange glow. The strange thing about this glow was its sound, like it was trying to communicate to her. The light started to say words: Come here if you want to get away from this place. The voice sounded smooth, soft and echoed through the tunnels of the dark cave. In her mind, it seemed that this voice knew the way out, but could she trust an invisible stranger that appeared as light? If she didn’t, would she stay here in the cave forever? Her senses chose the warm glow over the cold cave, but as she cautiously moved towards it, the glow moved away from her, as if the light didn’t want to come close to her.

Hey! she said, her voice trembling, I thought you wanted me to come to you?

I said come here, not come here to me, that way you can see, the orange glow said, which confused the girl.

    See what?

A way out of this place?

Something that could interest her? Maybe that’s why she came here, maybe she wanted to find something here, one of the jumbled memories fizzing through her mind was that she liked to find strange objects, she would often spend hours walking through forests on her own, picking up strange-coloured stones, or anything else that caught her eye, or at least that’s what her memories were telling her.

The glow shone larger than before, and she came to a stop. It was so bright that it filled the entire room, and the girl was right, it was definitely a cave. The light was close now, but so high up, but thanks to her that restored sight she could see cracks in the stones in front of her, ideal foot holes for the climb to the light. Luckily, she knew parkour, it was one of the stronger memories she could muster, like a hobby she was interested in, so she pulled up the thick green sleeves of her zipped-up coat, revealing the purple long sleeves she was wearing as an undergarment. She stood in front of the cracked wall and began to climb, it was hard and it was tiring, but she couldn’t give up; a voice in her head kept saying, You need to get up there, don’t let your hopes down, you can do it! The voice in her mind was cheering on her hard ascent towards the light. Towards the end, she nearly fell when her foot slipped on a loose rock, but managed to avoid plummeting back down to the cave floor with a strong two-finger hand grip. She pushed herself up and grabbed the open rocks until she finally reached the high point, and in this moment, she thanked herself for being brave, but her task wasn’t finished just yet. The light moved towards not an exit of a cave, but something far stranger, a door. She spent a quick few seconds studying the wooden door. It seemed strange to have a door in a cave, it looked like a Victorian style, framed and wooden brown. The wall that connected to the door was an actual wall covered in red wallpaper with stripes of yellow roses, like it was part of a room. Weird or not, it didn’t stop her wanting to open the door that could lead to her freedom. What’s behind this door? she asked, hoping that the light could answer.

What’s in front of this will change your mental life, don’t look forward nor backwards, think of this place like an existing way to find the fate of present, the light answered, before beginning to fade and disappear from her sight.

Does she need to know what’s behind that door? Could it be a way out of this? But what if this was different, I mean, it’s a door in a cave, what kind of person even installs a door for a dark cave? She almost forgot what the voice had said to her, "Don’t look forward nor backwards." What does that mean? As she slowly approached the door, she kept thinking about all of this, she couldn’t remember how she got here or why she was even here in the first place. A light came and went for only a few seconds or minutes, she can’t even think of when or how long has she been here. As she came near the door handle, she grabbed it and rotated the
