Part 1.
You Are Currently Stuck
For most of my life, I lived in a cage of mediocrity.
That’s the best way I can describe it. It was a prison cell, and all my fears of looking stupid, worries about the future, and anxiety about being chosen
—by cute girls, my boss, my family, sports coaches, the cool kids—kept me living as the barest, slimmest act of my true self. I walked through the halls of my high school as a fifteen-year-old student, but inside, I was a terrified little boy, watching life unfold from the safety of my mind.
I eventually escaped this prison, but this jailbreak took many years. Now, I see other captives masquerading as free men and women, people who don’t even know they’re living life behind bars.
You are currently stuck. And if you want to get out, you need to understand how this cage works—and how the hell you ended up in it.
