Helen had never been particularly adventurous. Even when she ate it was with minimal spice, she just wasn’t that daring... and it had always been the same with sex... just bland and uneventful. That is until the summer evening that her friend Sandra brought her husband along for drinks, and everything got decidedly out of hand.

We should get together for a few drinks.

When Sandra had suggested getting together Helen’s husband Gerry had jumped at the chance for a little variety.

It would be nice to meet new people. he had urged. Helen grudgingly agreed, their social life had become as stale as every other thing surrounding them, and she liked Sandra. But it will be fine she told herself, it will make a change.

HELEN FELT HER HEAD slowly spinning, the wine was stronger than she’d expected and she’d had at least two glasses more than usual. But it wasn’t the spinning head or strong wine that was concerning her, it was Gerry. He was flirting, openly! He laughed at every weak joke that Sandra cracked, really laughed like it was the funniest thing he’d ever heard.

And Steven, Sandra’s husband seemed oblivious to what was going on.
