M. Benjamin Woodall was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1972. He studied filmmaking at Columbia College Chicago and has worked in the independent film industry in the 1990s to 2000s as writer, script consultant, producer, and other roles. Mister Woodall is the author of Raiders of the Dawn, a young adult fantasy series, Archives of the Witch, a young adult paranormal romance series, and other works. Since Nov 2020 he has been host and producer of Pure Steam 2.0, a steampunk themed talk show which first aired on Youtube.Mister Woodall has held residence in many states in the U.S.A. He loves travel, books, and movies. As of this writing, M. Benjamin Woodall can be found in the Atlanta metro area with his wife and two boys, drinking coffee at his desk, working on his next novel.

These are the original, unedited journal entries recovered from the Assistant to Professor Jaydos Halloway. The name of his Assistant is hereby withheld pending investigation into the apparent outlandish dictation of the fated venture beneath a mobile home in Miami, Florida, to discover the reasons behind the mysterious malfunction of its air conditioning unit, which defied all known physical laws. The discrepancy in age of the Assistant to his historical birth records is currently being considered by the scientific community as due to some previously unknown time-dilation effect. The fantastic world presented within these pages has neither been confirmed nor denied to exist physically and is officially on record as being due to some unknown psychosis of both the Professor and Assistant, though the scepter, also recovered from the Assistant’s belongings, having technological abilities which cannot be explained, is under continued study by the National Scientific Institute. The reader is heretofore to use his or her own adjudication as to the validity of the claims presented in this work. The writings of two deranged lunatics, or the greatest scientific discovery of this century? Let the reader beware.

Today’s date is August 24, 1991. After a lot of planning, my Assistant and I gather our supplies for the long journey ahead. Our goal is to find and observe the reason for error in the air conditioning unit of this mobile home. And so, without knowing what deadly perils may lie ahead, we begin our venture into the small but treacherous opening under the trailer.

We make some distance under the trailer when we come to rest. Suddenly from my Assistant, I hear the scream, look out for the elephants, Professor! No sooner did I hear him, giant ants with what look like elephant people riding them appear out of the shadows and surround us.

All are staring down at us. I pick up a nearby stick and hand the flashlight to my Assistant.
