its head the shape

of the path you take

to work each morning

crashes down upon the city

twice each day

relentless

now even harsher

studded

through the ineffectual slush

now slightly gentler

faded rubber

but on softer skin

more compliant fluid

parting for you a trough

inevitable collision

roots creep ever downward

mercilessly seeking

my unsuspecting skull

or its replacement after i have gone

move things

they - perform mysterious acts of metabolism

solve minerals and radiation

into their own extensions

messages decrypted for instruction

and encrypted once more for duplication

and insertion

query amounts

they sprout new shapes

wriggling through soil
