Jacques Warner - Rell Scott
Prologue
It took every fiber of her being for Wanita to restrain from screaming out in a pain more relentless than childbirth. She looked into Kenneth, her husband’s, seemingly darker-than-usual eyes with tormenting disbelief in his betrayal. Beads of sweat dripped from his forehead and onto her bloody face.
In his eyes, it was only fair.
For something that is said to be best served sweet, it was anything but, and a part of her felt she deserved every bit of self-destruction the hurricane, that is now her life, was about to bring.
Trifling bitch! Stop whimpering!
Kenneth snapped at her.
Her smooth brown complexion now marred with bruises and cuts that would undoubtedly scar, she remained huddled up in the far corner of the messy supply closet as if it were going to offer her some sort of protection, which it had failed to all this time.
Kenneth motioned for his fellow guard, Guillermo, to hand him one of the clean towels sitting on the shelf behind him. After a few old man grunts and a wet fart, Guillermo stood, waddled over to the shelf, and tossed Kenneth a towel.
Pull yo’ pants up bruh! I can see the crack of yo’ fat ass!
Kenneth ordered.
Guillermo took a deep sigh and sat back down. His scruffy ducktail-goatee was decorated with bits of flaming hot Cheeto crumbs, so when he went to scratch it, some of the crumbs fell onto his uniform.
¡Chale! Mane, give me a break!
he said.
Kenneth dipped the towel in a bucket of dirty mop water and tossed it at Wanita.
Clean yourself up, cradle robber. This shit has been stressin’ me out.
Wanita wiped her face and arms as best she could. She was far from looking fresh out the shower with a glistening layer of Coco-Butter glazed over her skin as she’d walked into the kitchen earlier that morning to a refreshing glass of tea and breakfast sausage on a bun that Kenneth had cooked for her. Considering her fucked up situation, that was the least of her worries. She rose to her feet, tried to straighten up her blouse a bit, and stumbled her way to the table to sit down next to Guillermo.
Kenneth eyed her the whole way as if he were daring her to try and escape.
We have to get that lil’ motha-fucka Jacques out of here! Guillermo, how much were you able to scrap up?
Guillermo hacked up a lougee and spit it into a napkin.
"Ehh...2,000. I got bills and a family,
