Portarr, commander of the bioship Keelaa, took nourishment while he waited on his young assistant to complete the study preparations. The savor of this small watery planet’s life forms was different, as could only be expected, but quite tasty. He quickly slurped the last of the tiny viviparite’s entrails as Flandarr signaled all was ready.
Portarr stared at the new specimen as Flandarr processed the intake. Around him, the fibrous walls of the ship were just beginning to bud with new growth. Something to do with the yellow light of this mediocre star on the outer galactic rim certainly agreed with the Koeden physique. Certainly Portarr was feeling as spry as the bioship. The craft still hummed with pleasure in the warm golden glow, and Portarr hummed as well. The scent of fresh biomass was wonderful after
