About this ebook
Starfall Crawl is a steampunky soap opera set in a Dungeon. Skein and his sister Injala are hoping to make a big strike in Starfall City, a thousand year old city that fell from the stars into the middle of the Aretian Wastes a hundred years ago. On their first delve into the Starfall Crawl, Skein, Injala, and their delve krewe find an immense treasure, only to lose it, and Injala, to omoslyne scaley kind moments later. Skein knows there’s more treasure to be had. Also, he needs his sister back. She’s the tough one.
Starfall crawl will be free in its instalments until I finish it.
Lawrence Kapture
Lawrence Kapture has been involved with books all his life, as an avid reader and then a librarian. Eleven years with the New York Public Library included time on the influential Books to Remember committee, and ended with him moving to the sticks to take a gig as the Head of Adult and Reference services at a library near Kalamazoo. He started publishing in the early nineties with role playing game supplements.

Chapter 1
Koleos the size of house cats dropped from the ceiling as Skein entered the room. It was a rookie mistake in the Starfall City. Skein had taken a glove off to transmute the floor, and was scanning the floor for loot or obvious snares instead of checking the ceiling. But there you have it.
When Skein saw something dropping on him, he put his bare arm up to block it and one of a koleo landed on him. He recognized its fat, armored body and jointed legs and balled up his fist to avoid losing a finger to its mandibles. But it was also excreting sap from its abdomen, all over his bare arm, and the pain was immediate and excruciating. He jerked his face away as some of the sap dripped off his arm and hit his cheek and the side of his face.
The swelling was immediate. His tongue felt like it filled his mouth. He could barely breath, let alone speak a magic.
He groaned and shook the koleo to the floor, where it landed on it’s back. He stomped on its thorax, but its chiton was too tough. About half a dozen koleos dropped from the cieling. Two had landed on Kraek, who entered the room next to him. Three had dropped to the floor, but were getting ready to leap on them, their abdomens dripping with caustic sap.
Kraek hadn’t taken off any of his delvewear, though. Their excretions didn’t penetrate the thick leather of his jerkin or long gloves, or his face mask. He carried two long
